Kelly’s blog
Hi again! Sorry I haven’t posted anything for the last month or
so, but I’ve been super busy. Sometimes I wish I didn’t have
such a stressful job. Most people think that the life of a fashion
model is full of excitement and glamour, and in a way it’s true.
However, some models suffer from anxiety and depression
because it’s such a hard job. For the last month, I feel like I’ve
been travelling all the time. I’ve taken part in fashion shows in
Berlin, Paris, Milan and Madrid. I must have flown thousands
of miles and I can’t have slept for more than six hours a night,
more than two or three times in the last four weeks. I think this
is what total exhaustion feels like!
The most tiring fashion show was the one that was held in
Madrid last week. We stayed in a hotel in the city centre and
had to spend an hour in a taxi in order to travel to and from the
exhibition centre each day. I wish they’d chosen a hotel nearer
the exhibition centre. If we’d stayed in a hotel nearby, we
wouldn’t have wasted so much time in traffic jams. The other
reason it was so tiring was because I’m not used to having
dinner so late. The people I was with didn’t have dinner until
ten o’clock. By the time we’d had dinner and got back to the
hotel it was usually about one o’clock in the morning. If only
they didn’t eat so late in Spain!
Anyway, I’ve been back at home since Friday night and I’ve
had a nice, relaxing weekend here in London, but the fashion
world never stops and I’ll be away again for most of next
week. This time tomorrow, I’ll be sitting on a plane on my way
to Portugal. There’s an important fashion show in Lisbon on
Tuesday and Wednesday, and I’ll be working for an Italian
designer called Valentino. Their clothes are very stylish, but
also very expensive. Unfortunately, I won’t be allowed to keep
any of the clothes! I’ll have to give them back after I wear them
and wait until they sell them in the normal clothes shops – at
normal prices – in two years’ time. Then I’ll probably be able to
afford to buy them for myself!
