1. This is a story about the Blooms:
Mum, Dad, three boys . . . and a bird.
2. In 2013, Mum gets hurt.
3. She can’t walk.
4. One day, one of the boys finds a
baby magpie.
5. It hurts too. The boy brings it home.
6. This bird is black and white, so they
call her “Penguin”.
7. The Blooms help Penguin get better.
8. Soon, she can fly!
 9. Penguin helps the Bloom too.
10. In the morning, she flies into
the bedroom and the boys get up.
11. She sits with Mum in the afternoon.
12. At three o’clock, Penguin goes to
the garden and waits.
13. With Penguin, the Blooms are happy again.
14. One day, Penguin flies away.
15. The Blooms love Penguin, but they aren’t sad.
