Course Outline
The objective of the course is to familiarize the students with the history of
industrialization in Pakistan, industrial policy, pattern of industrial growth, industrialization
strategies pursued and their pitfalls, nationalization, denationalization/Privatization of industries,
problem of sick industrial units, and formulation of a viable industrial strategy for Pakistan.
Moreover, the course is designed to provide the deep understanding about the market structure of
industry, anti- competitive practices and how competition law works to curb these practices in
Pakistan.

- Abuse of dominant position, causes and remedies under Section 3 of the Competition
Act, 2010
- Cartel, types of market prone to cartelization, prosecuting cartels under CA, 2010
- Mergers, types of mergers and remedies under CA, 2010
- Deceptive marketing, what constitutes deceptive marketing, the relevant cases and
experiences of the CCP to deal with deceptive marketing
