CONSTRUCTION SAFETY POLICY


At KEMP Construction, we place the utmost importance on providing a safe work environment for
our employees and others who may be affected by our work. It is our responsibility to achieve and
maintain a safe and healthy working environment that promotes occupational health. KEMP
Construction has developed a Health & Safety Program to promote workplace safety and control
unsafe working conditions. The Health & Safety Program promotes specific health and safety
training for all employees, and is designed to monitor the workplace for compliance with
legislative requirements and attain best operating practices at all times.

KEMP Construction:
a) believes that it is responsible to incorporate proven health and safety principles into all phases of
our operations and emphasize these as integral components of prudent business practice

b) understands that the responsibilities for workplace health and safety must extend to all workplace
parties (senior management, front line management and workers) on or off the job

c) recognizes that accident prevention and quality of working life must continue to be an essential part
of our business operations and as such, will empower each individual to actively participate in their
Health & Safety Program

d) accepts the concept that the causes of accidents and illnesses can be controlled and the occurrence
of personal injuries can be further reduced and is therefore committed to the prevention of
occupational illness and injury in the workplace

e) will continue to support the efforts of the Joint Health and Safety Committee as required

f) while complying with Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act and Environmental Protection
Act and all applicable Regulations, accepts these statutes as minimum standards

g) recognizes that it is the responsibility of all workers to work in accordance with the practices and
procedures set forth in the Health and Safety Program, in addition to the applicable legislative
requirements

h) recognizes that it is the responsibility of all workers to report all hazards and unsafe acts/ conditions

i) recognizes the responsibility of all supervisors to ensure that safe and healthy work conditions are
maintained in our workplace.

j) as outlined in our Early Safe Return to Work Program, will endeavor to offer modified work to
those employees who have sustained injury or illness with a view to facilitate their rehabilitation
and to safely return them to their pre-injury job function as soon as they are capable

k) Kemp Construction will employ only those persons meeting the legal requirements outlined in
Federal and Provincial Regulations. Training and certification will be verified prior to orientation
and or job placement for all processes requiring such certification

l) The success of our organization depends on our reputation to provide a quality product and service
in a safe and timely manner. Health and safety must be incorporated into all facets of our
operations.

Through open lines of communication, objective discussions and cooperation


between workers, supervisors, management, the Joint Health and Safety Committee
and other outside parties, our objectives of a workplace free of hazards, injury and
illness can and will be achieved.

CONSTRUCTION SAFETY POLICY


PACT Construction is a leading Western Australian building and project management company
committed to achieving the highest attainable level of occupational health and safety working
conditions for its employees, contractors, visitors and other persons throughout all areas of its
activities. At PACT Construction, all people have a responsibility for creating a safe work
environment by striving to achieve zero tolerance towards hazards, incidents and accidents in
the workplace.

In order to achieve this, PACT Construction management and staff will:

 Demonstrate leadership and commitment through all its managers and supervisors.
 By continual monitoring and improvement of KPI’s strive to achieve an accident-
free workplace.

 Provide and maintain a safe work environment, including work conditions, practices and
procedures for all employees and persons who come into contact with PACT
Construction.

 Develop awareness throughout PACT Construction by initial and ongoing education,


training and supervision of all employees and contractors.

 Take all practicable steps to eliminate hazards within the workplace through hazard
identification, risk assessment, control and monitoring to ensure ongoing effectiveness.
 Comply with all applicable health and safety statutory requirements as a minimum.
 Strive to continuously improve occupational health and safety management.
 Involve all our people in occupational health and safety management through consultation
and contribution to identify hazards in the workplace, assessing and control risks as well
as participating in the review of health and safety performance.
 Ensure that all incidents are reported, recorded and causes identified, and where injury or
illness occurs, help our people to achieve full recovery through prompt treatment and
injury management.
 Allocate appropriate resources to meet the commitments of the policy.

Employees also have a duty to take care of their own health and safety and that of others
affected by their actions at work. In order to achieve this, each individual employee is
required to:
 Comply so far as he/she is reasonably able with safety procedures and directions given
by the employer or its authorized representatives.

 Not willfully interfere with or misuse items or facilities provided by PACT


Construction in the interests of safety and health of PACT Construction employees.

 Must, in accordance with agreed PACT Construction procedures, report hazards and
accidents.

This signed statement of policy will be displayed at all relevant work locations.
