For older students, print out the option with the questions on each page. Students can
write in their own answers after reading books from the library or doing some research on
the internet.

13/14. You can choose between a front page that kids can color or a front page with photos.
Similarly, there are two final pages to choose from.
NOTE ABOUT THE LAPBOOK/INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOK PAGES: There are
printable options for those who use mm/cm/km instead of inches or miles.

Chameleon Craft
When my kids were quite young, we did a
really fun chameleon craft.

Even my youngest who was just 2 at the time

was able to participate!!

We read this book by Eric Carle: The Mixed-

Up Chameleon.

I had the kids watch the slide show at Eric Carle’s

Website about how he paints the tissue paper for
making his children’s books. (Click on the pictures
for his instructions. We followed his instructions
making decorative paper.

Start with bold colors on the paper. Let it dry.

Add a second color like wavy lines. Let it dry.

Add in a third color such as dots. And a 4th color.

Then I had them trace a chameleon template that I made out of
cardboard for them.

LD cut his out (I cut out the chameleons for the girls who are 2
and 4 years old). Ta-Da!

Very cute chameleons.
