Grammar: In Lektion 7, we learned about new adverbs for days of the week.

It was a
new method of stating them in sentences. In Germ 110 we learned the days of the
weeks as am Montag, am Mittwoch etc, but in this chapter we learned to write them as
montags, mittwochs etc. We also learned about konnte and sollte which in English
translates to could and should. We used konnte and sollte when giving advice. In Lektion
8, we learned about medical things such as hospital, doctors different diseases and
problems. We also learned about weil and deshalb and the proper ways of putting them
in the sentence. For example, if a sentence contains weil the verb gets kicked to the end
of the sentence. In Lektion 9, we learned about a few more word endings for
nominatives, accusatives and datives.

Vocabulary: The vocabulary that we studied in Lektion 7 included learning about the
different types of exercises and hobbies. The word Gymnastik has a very similar
pronunciation, as Gymnastics but it actually means Yoga in Deutch which is a different
sport. We also learned about different foods for dieting. Lektion 8 vocab included words
related to illnesses, injuries, accidents etc. Finally for Lektion 9, we discussed the
different job positions, automobiles and different work places.

Culturally: We learned in Lektion 8 that Germans that the emergency doctors go in the
ambulance with the paramedics to the scene of an accident, but in Canada the doctors
are in the hospital and even when the casualties do get to the hospital they have to wait
for hours until a doctor is available.
