 Q. A 28 year old female presented to medical OPD with swelling and severe pain in
right knee joint along with high grade fever for few hours. Her blood CP report is also
attached.

A) Name the cardinal signs of inflammation shown in the picture of patient’s knee
joint. (2)
Answer: Redness (rubor), increase in temperature (calor), swelling (tumor), pain
(dalor), loss of function.
(B) Name the chemical mediator responsible for pain in his knee joint. (2)
Answer: Histamine, bradykinin, prostaglandins, serotonin.
(C) What are the two findings in blood CP in favor of your diagnosis. (2)
Answer: Raised TLC, raised neutrophil count.
(D) What is the type of inflammation on the basis of above findings that affects the
right knee of patient. (2)
Answer: Acute inflammation.
