Student Expectations:
● Come to school prepared and be ready to learn.
● Have all homework assignments completed and forms
ready to turn in.
● Know our behavioral expectations in different settings (ex:
classroom, hallway, cafeteria, playground, bus)
● Follow the safety procedures to prevent the spread of
COVID-19. (ex: staying home when sick)
● Try your best every day and be positive thinkers in every

● Read all correspondence from your child’s teacher and school
(newsletters, notes, messages, emails)
● Homework Planner Signatures.
● Assist your child with homework.
● Turn in any requested school documents before the deadline.

bottle of water and a snack packed daily.
● Extra Clothes - Please pack your child an extra set
of clothes incase they have an accident.

CAMPUS HOURS
● The Main Gate will open from 7:15 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
● The Inner Gate will be closed until 1:00pm. It will only open
to buses or emergency vehicles.

OFFICE HOURS
● 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Monday – Friday
● Closed on government holidays
Student Arrival
● Car riders may be dropped off at the Bus Depot
Area as early as 7:15 a.m. If buses are present,
wait behind the bus in your vehicle before
releasing your child. Students must proceed to
the Cafeteria for breakfast and the holding area.
● Bus riders will proceed to the Cafeteria for
breakfast and the holding area.
Student Departure
● Car Rider pick-up area is located at the Bus Depot
Area after buses depart. Release time is
approximately 2:50p.m.
● Only buses can drive into the Bus Depot area
from 2:00-3:00p.m.
Student Dress Code
CBMES embraces Board Policy 401. As part of our school safety program, the
following will be adhered:
● No hats or bandanas are to be worn on campus.
● Gang related colors are prohibited and shall not be worn as accessories.
● Students are not allowed to wear revealing clothes, blouses, spaghetti
straps, and high heels.
● Shorts must be longer than the tip of an outstretched finger.
● Fashionable ripped clothing are not allowed.
● No open-toe shoes are allowed. (sandals/slippers)
Students wearing open-toe footwear will remain in the office during
recess/school activities until parents/guardians provide proper footwear.
● Failure to wear uniform shirts may result in, but are not limited to, the
following: Parents/guardians shall be notified, detention or loss of
playground participation, and/or nonparticipation in school activities or
field trips.
Visitor Procedure
A visitor is any individual who is not assigned to work at Chief Brodie
Memorial Elementary School. CBMES will minimize visitors on campus for
the health, safety and wellness of students and employees.
1. All visitors must make an appointment to be in the school building.
2. At the Main Gate, visitors must state their name and nature of the
visit.
● The info will be logged and reported to the Main Office.
3. CBMES Office Personnel will service visitors at the Bus Depot area.
School services that will operate from the Bus Depot area:
● student sign-out during the day
● attendance verification requests
● registrations and withdrawals, etc.
4. Visitor Requirements:
● Answer health screening questions upon entry.
● Temperature screening will be conducted. If temperature is 100.4°
F, the person will not be allowed on campus.
Student Absences
Upon returning to school following an absence, a note must be given to the
teacher. The note should include: student’s name, date(s) of absence, and
reason for absence. The following are legal reasons for excused absences:
student illness, death in the immediate family, medical/dental appointments,
court appearances, and natural disasters beyond your control.
If your child should be absent for
● 3 or more consecutive days due to illness, the child must submit a
written certification from the doctor upon return to school.
● Upon 3 or more unexcused absences within the quarter or a pattern of
frequent absences, the school will refer the matter to the School
Attendance Officer (SAO).
● Upon 11 unexcused absences within the school year or a pattern of
frequent unexcused absences, the teacher will refer the child to the
SAO.
● If a child is found to have head lice, 2 days is the most the child should
be absent. Absences after this will be unexcused.
