EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION
A. Hiring/Staffing
a. The MSD Warren Township School District is committed to equal opportunity. It

b. Every effort will be made to fill employment vacancies with current employees,
allowing for career growth.
c. References are checked for accuracy and previous work habits.
d. Job descriptions enclosed.
e. Pay periods are every two weeks. Clocking in and out is to be done daily and as
close to the time of your shift as possible. Time reports will be approved and
printed at the end of each pay period. Staff are to check for accuracy and report
any problems to the Program Coordinator.
f. Staff are required to present Social Security Card and Photo ID to personnel
office and fill out tax papers.
B. Supervision/Evaluation
a. Each employee will be evaluated annually.
b. Informal/Formal evaluations will come by way of program director.
C. Discipline/Termination
a. All staff are expected to dress and perform their duties in a manner appropriate
for role modeling for young children. Business Casual.
b. Employees voluntarily resigning need to notify Mr. Gearlds in writing two weeks
prior to leaving.
D. Grievances
a. All concerns are to be taken to the immediate supervisor. If results are not
satisfactory, the chain of command, listed under Organization Structure, is to be
followed.
E. Employee Expectations
a. Dependable attendance is expected.
i. If you must be absent from work you must follow the listed procedure.
ii. Contact the Site Manager and/or Mr. Gearlds as soon as possible (at
least 2 hours before shift)

iii. If you know ahead of time you will be absent, you need to arrange
for your own sub and fill out the proper request form. (Extended
Learning ONLY)
b. Cell Phones should not be out and in use during Instructional Time. If you
need your phone on you (emergencies only) please let me Mr. Gearlds
know.
c. Professional Conversations
i. When in the area of scholars, please make sure conversations are
age appropriate and geared towards the teaching job. (Side
conversations about the goings on should not take place in the
vicinity of scholars.

TEACHER ROUTINES
ARRIVAL AT SCHOOL AND DEPARTURE:
Faculty are expected to be at school and no later than 8:00 AM, and can leave at 3:45 PM. Staff
members who need to leave campus during the school day must notify the principals secretary in advance.
This will ensure that we have your classroom covered.
Staff ParkingALL Staff members should use the Parking Spots located on the South Side or East
Side of the building. NO staff members should park on any of the Access Drives as these are for
Township Maintenance and/or Emergency Vehicles. Due to an increased enrollment, the Front
(West) Parking spots are reserved for our ECC parents during drop-off.
LATE ARRIVAL:
Please notify the office immediately, 869-4750 (Janelle/Dulce) if you cannot avoid being late for school

ABSENCES FOR TEACHERS:


Illness: AESOP Sub Finder at http://www.frontlinek12.com/aesop
Pre-arranged Absence (personal leave, conference or workshop attendance, etc.): Please complete the
Staff Leave Request at least five days in advance and submit to Dulce.
SUBSTITUTE FOLDERS/LESSON PLANS:
Teachers are required to maintain an up-to-date substitute folder kept on file in your classroom in an easy
identified location. This folder should include your daily schedule, duties for which you are responsible, a
roster for your class and lesson plans. Please note that substitutes are not allowed to use the computers,
unless building sub.
TEACHERS DRESS CODE:
Teachers should dress with high professional standards. We will have designated jeans days (Wednesdays
and Fridays) along with spirit days.
STUDENT ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES:
Teachers will take attendance at the beginning of each day. Students are to be marked absent or tardy.
Those are the only options. Dawn will change absences and tardies to excused as appropriate.
It is very important that you take attendance accurately ever y day. This is our only source of attendance
information.
ASSEMBLIES:
During assemblies teachers are asked to sit within the main body of the students and to be proactive
maintaining appropriate student behavior and a respectful atmosphere.

SCHOOL BELLS:
Bells will ring at 8:30, 11:30, 12:35, and
3:45 every day. Teachers should be in the hallways monitoring behavior and making sure
that students get to class on time. Classes should begin promptly at 8:50.

GENERAL INFORMATION
COMPUTER PROBLEMS:
Any problems with your computer hardware or software should be reported to helpdesk and CC Mr. Gearlds.
At that point an online tech request will be made to the helpdesk.
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT SYSTEM:
Every teacher is expected to have a classroom management system that clearly outlines the behavior
expectations, procedures, and consequences for the students. Every teacher should have the classroom
expectations and procedures posted in the classroom.

SUPERVISION OF STUDENTS:
Student supervision is a health and safety issue as such it is of great importance. Please know that the
more visible you are the less likely an incident will occur. (See Active Supervision Handout)

PARENT VOLUNTEERS ARE NOT TO BE SUPERVISING KIDS. (unless on fieldtrips)

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS:
A. Accidents/Injuries- An accident form or workers compensation form should be filled out in
any accident/injury that requires medical attention. Medical attention includes applying
ice and/or band-aid. Any employee accident/injury requires workers compensation form
to be completed. Participant accident forms are to be turned into the Site Coordinator the
following day. Workers compensation forms are to be turned into the office within 24
hours.
B. Suspicion of abuse is to be reported to Mr. Gearlds immediately, who in turn will fill out
appropriate forms and contact appropriate authorities.
C. ALL safety and/or health concerns are to be reported to immediate supervisor. Site
Coordinators are to report concerns to Mr. Gearlds.
STUDENT DISCIPLINE:
A characteristic of an effective school is one that creates a sound/learning environment with an emphasis on
positive discipline in a safe and orderly campus. For such an environment to exist it is necessary that
students clearly understand what is expected of them and that teachers will be involved in modeling and
helping to reinforce student behaviors that demonstrate respect and consideration for the rights and property
of others. Most students conduct themselves appropriately, but in cases of misbehavior teachers need to
balance fairness with consistency in their application of discipline measures.
Teachers should be capable of handling most cases of misbehavior, however serious infringements and

He will be responsible for dealing with the student(s) in question and informing
the referring teacher of developments.

ALCOHOL, DRUGS AND SMOKING:


The Warren Early Childhood Center is an alcohol, drug and smoke free campus.
WORK ORDERS:
If you need work done in your classroom or arrangements for a set-up in another facility, you need to fill out
a Work Order Form. See Dulce/Janelle in the office for the forms.
CLASSROOM SECURITY:
Always lock your classroom when you are out. Students should not be in classrooms without an adult
present. Do not leave valuables such as cameras, purses, sunglasses, CDs, or assessments unattended.
Turn off your computer at the end of the day and close and lock the windows.

SUPPLIES:
All purchase orders must be approved by Mr. Gearlds. Please turn in all supply requests to Mrs. Johnson.
Each classroom will have a supply account. See Mrs. Johnson for that information. (As a reminder NO
purchases should be made on your own this school year)

FIELD TRIPS:
Field trips must be educationally based and appropriate for PreSchool Scholars. Planning for field trips
must be done in consultation with the grade level team and principal. The Board approved Field Trip Forms
MUST be completed at least one-week prior to the event. No last minute field trips will be allowed
unless there is a compelling reason with principal approval. Forms are available in the office and MUST be
used. There must be a permission signed by parent or guardian to allow the student to leave campus for a
field trip. It is the responsibility of the teacher organizing the trip to distribute and
collect all permission forms. Students may not participate in a field trip without a signed permission form.

PARENT COMMUNICATION, REPORTING AND GRADING


WEEKLY BULLETIN FOR PARENTS: (Not Required but a great communication tool)
A weekly newsletter is posted on the website for parents of ECC Scholars. This informs parents about
upcoming events, reports on what is happening during classes and in sports, offers advice on parenting
and explains new policies.
PARENTAL COMMUNICATION:
Open lines of communication are a feature of the school and parents will often attempt to contact a teacher
when they are busy with other Parents do not like surprises at report card time.
Keeping grades up-to-date and alerting parents to struggles will go a long way
toward keeping parents informed.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
See guidelines posted in each room for specific directions.
i. Fire and Wind Drills: Become familiar with the procedure and plan
regular drills. Staff are to refer all media questions to appropriate
personnel.
ii. Intruder Drill: Become familiar with the code and procedure for a
lockdown situation. Staff are to refer all media questions to
appropriate personnel.
iii. Injury: Staff are not to transport injured unless more serious injury would
result in not doing so. If a child is injured, staff should contact Site
Coordinator immediately. Site Coordinator will radio security. If
security does not respond call 911. Inform the parents and Mr.
Gearlds after summoning emergency care. Assign staff to calm and
redirect other children. Assign one person to stay with the injured
child. If child needs to be taken to the hospital and parent or
emergency contact person cannot be reached, a staff person should
accompany child.

DAILY ECC PROCEDURES


HALLWAY

Be considerate of other learners/classrooms by walking quietly throughout the hallways during


instructional time. (Main Office area is a Level 0 Voice

Enjoy projects and displays by looking, but not touching.

Stay in line using the right side of the hallway.

Be respectful of others by keeping your hands, feet, and mouth to yourself.


RESTROOM

Remember to wash your hands prior to leaving.

Leave the restroom cleaner than you found it. (Throw all paper towels in trash can)

Be considerate of others while waiting to use the restroom.

Speak in a soft voice.

The restroom is NOT a play area.

Dont forget to flush.

OFFICE MANAGED BEHAVIORS


MAJOR

Abusive Language- Scholar repeatedly delivers verbal messages that include swearing;
name calling; or use of words inappropriately towards peers/adults.

Physical Aggression- Scholar repeatedly engages in a physical act (hitting, kicking, biting,
spitting) towards a peer/adult.

Repeated Defiance- Scholar engages in repeated acts of defiance that are causing a loss
of instructional time.

Property Damage- Scholar repeatedly misuses/breaks school property.

Stealing- Scholar is in possession of another scholars belongings and will not give them
back.

Other- Scholar engages in an act that may put themselves or others in harms way .

Weapons- Guns/Knives (Toy or Real)
