b. What are the three main skills use by the Historians and explain the importance of each skills
in writing history?

To write a history, historians need to have the ability to solve problems. However, there
are three (3) key competencies—sourcing, corroboration, and contextualization—that historians
are expected to acquire this main skills.
In terms of sourcing, historians must be adept at evaluating the authenticity, reliability,
and objectivity of historical sources, whether they be primary or secondary. Sourcing is a critical
aspect of a historian's work because they must rely on a wide range of sources to compile
information, evidence, and data for their investigation and to construct accurate and insightful
historical narratives. When historians use sources, they employ critical thinking and source
evaluation skills to determine the reliability and aim to construct accurate, well-informed, and
objective narratives of the past.
One of the vital aspect of historical research is the corroboration of the historians, which
entails the process of comparing various sources and perspective in order to cross-reference and
validate historical data, conclusions, and interpretations. The accuracy, reliability, and credibility
of the study are all improved through corroboration. This skill of historians helps ensure the
authenticity through the verification of facts and historiographical analysis. Thus, it isn't limited
as it encompasses interpretations and confirmation in addition to factual knowledge because
historians critically assess the reliability and bias of each source they use.
Lastly, Contextualization is the process of setting historical events, people, and
developments into their historical, social, cultural, economic, and political contexts as it’s an
essential skill of historians in their field in writing history. By analyzing historical events and
figures within their complex contexts, historians are able to shed light on the complexities of the
past and provide us with important lessons for the present and the future. Historians typically
contextualize their writings in order to address questions about causality, motivations, and
consequences. For one to have a thorough comprehension of history, contextualization is
necessary for understanding the different context in history.
