Subject: Top Urgent: Schedule for Pretend Pal Robot | Supertoys
Importance: High

Dear Monita,

We were glad to get your confirmation on the schedule, but it is unacceptable that the
schedule items that have been committed have been completely ignored. We knew that
the schedule for this toy was going to be tight, but we had agreed to a plan that would
support the schedule and this was a condition of allowing Supertoys to do the
development work. We now need to see the work from the last week from Supertoys.

The only acceptable response for this project to submit as much of the design work and
possible immediately today so that we may have any confidence that the CAD will be
completed as per the schedule. Please confirm the milestones activities to the dates
listed.

Additional comment from customer, I will have conference call with them tomorrow
morning, I need to get your feedback today, thanks for your support.
1) Where are the preliminary DWGs? ST engineers were to only have 3 days off for CNY per your
email commitment. Preliminary drawings were due 2/23 and 2/28!!!
2) Schedule and cost updates for items in latest spec.
3) Remote sculpt has been sent
4) I owe the Dino Color Spec and color samples
5) Will Dino mouth always stay synchronized and default to close after talk through and Roar?
6) Determine leakage current and Try-Me/battery
life
7) New Dino head with head angle up, and more mouth open, need to see this in the CAD.
8) Need to start FCC filing process and provide FCC Part 15 and RSS 310 (Canada) wording for our
print materials and packaging.
9) Who is the SFX IC source and what will the length of the storage be?
10) Sound released and shipped 2/27
11) When will sound boards be ready?
12) When will "works like" prototype be shipped (3/6?)
13) Need to determine dB cut off level, based on other proto remote

And per our discussion yesterday on phone, Herman and I are planning to go to your
factory to review any open issues of the Robot and Talk N Track items next Tuesday
March 06 with you and your engineers and get the updates of development progress.

Roger Zhou

Hi Roger,

Thanks for your information. The dates should be ok as they are given to you by Albert.

Thanks for the photos. Our engineers and model house will start working on the internal
design upon receipt of the sculpt. We will not be able to give you detailed component list until
we start the demo sample.

Will you send me the hand sample PO for this item or I will have to send you the invoice?

Dear Monita,

1. Would like to discuss the following schedule issues for the Pretend Pal Robot and try to
figure out the best way to get the detail design work done on the Robot. Schedule is
extremely critical since from today we basically have only 2 months to complete the
Sculpture, detail design work, working models, approve models with very little revision, and
start tooling (and Chinese New Year also).
Please see the following dates to get your input on hitting the schedule. Please note that
Tooling Start must be 4/2, this is the real latest date we can have and can not move without
impacting product deliveries.
It is also most likely that to help save time client and our engineer can come to your factory
during the model creation time to review the working model, make changes and approve any
cad or model changes.

Please confirm if Supertoys can hit this schedule (Tooling Start Date 4/2) better if we do the
CAD design work in the US or at your side.
Sculpture complete in US 2/9/2007
US CAD/Design 2/9/2007 2/28/2007
CAD Files sent to China for WORKING TOOLING MODEL 3/1/2007 3/5/2007
Final Model Approved 3/6/2007 3/30/2007
Final Model Created and Shipped 3/6/2007 3/19/2007
Final Model Arrives at Cranium 3/20/2007 3/21/2007
Final Model Adjustments Made 3/22/2007 3/30/2007
Final Model Approved 3/30/2007 3/30/2007
Tooling 4/2/2007 6/29/2007
Tool Creation 4/2/2007 5/18/2007

2. A working sample of the remote control Pretend Pal Dino robot will arrive our office tomorrow. This is just a working
model that you can see the basic functions that we would like in the robot. IT IS NOT an exact prototype or designed the
way we want the actual robot made. Attached some photos just for reference so you can see what it will look like. Please
arrange your in-charge engineer to come to our office tomorrow to review it with our engineer on the sample (I can
not send it to you because I need to return it to USA for Toy Fair on Thu.).
Should you have any question/inquiry, please contact us.

Subject Quotation for PRC Robot |Supertoys

Dear Monita,

Now we would like to change the material to plastic ABS for these two items,, below is some updated information, please
review and advise if you are willing to quote on it.

Remote Dino configuration is a decorated (hard/ABS) plastic shell. The girl version may either be a
Bunny Rabbit, or Girl Dino. The Girl version is likely to have a small amount of plush fabric
decoration (if Bunny, plush ears and tail for example).
The Robot will go with only 27MHz frequency for this Robot (both for US and EU market).

Please quote in RoHs and Non-Rohs version(any cost difference?)

Please also advise the cost up if add try-me function (most cost up should be on the battery).

Per requirement from customer, the feature set that we have to have is:
1) RF Talk Through,
2) Forward, straight movement,
3) Reverse/Turn movement.
Any other additional features that could be had without additional cost would be great (like wiggle, SFX, mouth movement),
but the desired primary feature set is how we listed it above.

And please advise to below questions:

1. Can you confirm if the Bot can operate on 3 AA batteries, or less?
o Can you confirm if a 9V battery is needed for the remote, or can 1-2 AA or AAA
batteries be used for the Remote?
o Does the voice transmit/talk through function cause more batteries to be
needed (higher voltage) or can AA/AAA be used?

2. Can the mouth movement be connected to the dB level of the sound coming from
the remote transmission?

o Mouth will move when the talk button is pressed AND voice dB level is above a
specific dB level.
o Mouth will stop moving if talk button is pressed, but voice dB level is above a
specific dB level.
o Can you see if this is possible to control in the IC?

Our target for Boy and Girl version are all US$6.0.

Should you have any question/inquiry, please call me.

Best regards,
Roger

Subject: RE: Quotation for Plush RC Robot |Supertoys
Importance: High
Dear Albert and Monita,

Would you mind to quote on this item, even noted the plush part will be out-sourced by Suopertoys.
Below is the updated information:
1.we will go with only 27MHz frequency for this Robot (both for US and EU market).
2. comparison by using PVC (Phthalate free) Roto Molded skin and Plush option.
3.We also want to get cost difference on RoHs version and Non-RoHs version
4.Please also advise the cost up if add try-me function (most cost up should be on the battery).

Per last requirement, the feature set that we have to have is the
1) RF Talk Through,
2) Forward, straight movement,
3) Reverse/Turn movement.
Any other additional features that could be had without additional cost would be great (like wiggle, SFX, mouth movement),
but the desired primary feature set is how we listed it above.

Option 2:
One other option that we need to price out if the Plush option is too expensive is the PVC (Phthalate free) Roto Molded skin.
We have included photos of a dinosaur toy that we have here that has the roto molded PVC skin In your discussion with the
factories please have this skin type priced along side the Plush option so that we can see the cost savings for this option.

Received some updated information from Cranium today, please see below:
1. If we decide to use the voice transmit function, it will be just the regular voice sound unchanged, NO need to change
the voice pitch.
2. Now, Cranium are more interested in Wiggle than bounce, so please base on below two option case for the feature
sets:

Case A
RF Talkthrough Back/Spin
Fwd Walk Roar(Flutter)

Case B

Wiggle Back/Spin
Fwd Walk Roar(Flutter)

3. Cranium is not confirmed if these two toys will have try-me function yet? If possible that you can ask the suppliers to
provide the additional try-me function cost impact as a remark item? Assume try-me may be the Roar/SFX (i.e. play
prerecorded voice) with a movement. So additional try-me trigger button & battery need include in the plush for try-me.
4. The two wheels mentioned in the BOM are driving wheels. With one wheel it is really just a stop that keeps the foot from
slipping backwards and gives the foot traction.
Backward in circle (back/spin): one of the driving wheel stop, and the other wheel
backward-turn to achieve this feature.
Forward (Fwd walk): two driving wheels forward-turn at the same time.
5. Some modification for the previous e-mail Option A item #1 in Blue color.
6. Below is the packaging and print material information that we got from Cranium till now. We will further check with
Cranium if they can provide more details to us.

Window Box 4" x 16" x 17" 4 color 1

Vac Tray 4" x 16" x 17" 1
Twist-Tie Mounts 4
Instruction sheet 6" x 6" - 95 gsm 1
Book 6" x 6" - 95 gsm (8 pages, Smyth-sewn binding) 4 Color 1
Promo catalog 6" x 6" - 95 gsm 1
Master carton 1

See book updates above. The Master Carton is the Shipping Carton that 2 of the
robots, packaged, will fit into for shipping into the container.

Subject
Quotation for Plush RC Robot
|Supertoys

Dear Albert:
Some updated information for your reference, please advise when could I get
your quotes (unit cost/breakdown/tooling charge & its refundable qty/hand
sample charge):

General spec:
1. Please see below ref-photo & movies which provided by Cranium.
And remember this is just an example of how we can operate 2 functions
from 1 motor, by switching directions (back wheel spins counterclockwise
- arm moving only;; back wheel spins clockwise – it will engages the
front wheel also to start the walking motion).
For these two new plush robot items, please base on the spec and BOM for
the preliminary quotation.
2. For the pre-recorded IC, use 5-8 sec@8K sample rate.

Option A:
1. spin in a circle 3 times, no need hold the spin button of the
controller to complete 3 time circles, only press the button one time is
okay. And the plush will stop after 3 times cycles even the button is
hold on.
2. the wiggles/shake need play the pre-recorded voice at the same
time, and the wiggles/shake will fix one speed by the IC controlled.
3. bounce, will use the tail to drive the boy’s toy to bounce.
4. the girl’s toy need spin/wiggle/shake/bounce also.

Option B:
1. Base on function #2, when we press the remote button one time,
the toy will backward in circle roughly 90-120 degrees and stop (which
control the motor by IC), no need hold the button. But if you hole the
remote button, the toy will continue backward in circular until release
the button.

Option C:
1. the girl toy need the function #5 also, but the motion should
be wing, not the mouth.
2. The mouth or wing moving no need to follow the transmit voice
speed, only fix one speed is okay.
3. “The voice transmit with moving mouth or wings function” only can
activate when the plush stop. That is to say, when the plush is moving, the
voice can not transmit.

BOM:
1. Instruction sheet: 95gsm, 6”x6”, 4c/4c color both side. And the
master carton size is same as previous Move & Station items.
2. The function of the microphone only use for transmit the voice
to the plush, no need to record the voice into the IC and playback.
3. These two plush robot no need to use LED.

Any question, please call me or Herman.

Regards,
Roger
