The ARIES Training School in Observational Astronomy will be held from April 22nd to May 3rd 2024 at ARIES in Nainital. The school aims to provide young Indian students with an understanding of astronomy through topics like galactic and extragalactic astronomy, star formation and evolution, telescope operation, and optical data analysis methods. Hands-on activities covering photometric, spectroscopic, and polarimetric astronomical data processing will also be included. Open sessions will arrange discussions among PhD students, postdocs, and ARIES faculty members. Eligible participants include MSc and integrated MS physics students, and BTech engineering physics students.

ARIES organises an annual training program in observational astronomy to provide young Indian students with the necessary platform to develop the understanding in astronomy. The school will cover topics including galactic and extragalactic astronomy, star formation and evolution, basic idea on telescopes operation, and optical data analysis methods. Demonstrations and hands-on activities on astronomical data processing including photometry, spectroscopy, and polarimetry will be covered during the period. To facilitate discussion and interaction among PhD students, post doctoral fellows, and faculty members of ARIES, open sessions will be arranged.
Intended participants : MSc (Physics)-1st/2nd year, Integrated MS
(Physics)-4th/5th year and B.Tech (Engineering Physics)-4th year
