Georgi Ivanov

1:
Georgi Ivanov Kakalov, better known as Georgi Ivanov, is a
Bulgarian officer and lieutenant- general who is born on 2 July 1940
in Lovech. He is the first Bulgarian and Balkan cosmonaut.
2:
On March 1, 1978, he was selected as a cosmonaut in the second
group of the Interkosmos program. He studied at the Yuri Gagarin
Cosmonaut Training Center. On April 10, 1979, at 20 o'clock and 34
minutes Moscow time, the Soyuz-33 spacecraft with an international
crew was launched into orbit around the Earth. The flight commander
was Nikolai Rukavishnikov from The soviet union.
Due to a technical problem, the ship failed to dock with the Salyut-6
orbital station and the spacecraft was landed by the two cosmonauts
320 km southeast of Dzhezkazgan, Kazakhstan after 31 complete
orbits around the Earth. They spend 1 day, 23 hours and 1 minute in
space.
It is said that during the dramatic situation, Commander
Rukavishnikov fainted, while Georgi Ivanov's pulse remained normal
and did not change.
A curious fact about Georgi Ivanov is his world record, which has not
been improved. This record is specifically that during the entire
mission he remains calm, and his heart rate does not increase the
norm, even when the mission is terminated and they have to make an
emergency landing.
