Composition write up draft 1

The free composition is in the style of movie music that is ideally suited for an action movie that
is for audiences with people of all ages.

The sun is rising, and there is a call of war made present by an ominous French horn duet. This
short-lived melody is played in minor 3rds to mark a sense of dragging to create sadness.
Timpani plays syncopated rhythms following this solo along melancholic tone to the beginning
of the piece. Long bass notes from the strings follow this to make a feeling of waves,
representing a change in the atmosphere.

Suddenly, this is interrupted by the loud beats of the bass drum, announcing chaos and disorder
in the next section of this piece of music. Dominating the melody at this point of the piece is a
trumpet fanfare, accompanied by winds playing descending broken chords, sequences going
down by tones.

The piece ends in the final section of the piece by two ‘daylight pianos’ and a flute playing a
reoccurring motif in order to resemble the end of a war, and stars falling from the sky. The
French horn solo is repeated at the very end using reverb to create an echo, emphasising loss and
sorrow.
