It is a personal pronoun used as a subject

OBJECTIVE PRONOUN 受格

Opposite of the subject pronoun. It is used as a grammatical object (Direct – the one you are
referring to / Indirect – the receiver of the action)
Recap: Direct – Sam ate burger. (burger is the D.O)
Indirect – Same gave me a burger. (me is the I.O)
