Essay: Methods employers could use to encourage

young people to work in their restaurants and cafés

Nowadays many teenagers are challenged to find a suitable
workplace for various reasons. Although some are reluctant to
start their first working endeavour, there are ways employers
could motivate them to become an inseparable part of their
establishments.

On one hand, managers could offer higher salaries, since working

in the food industry is tough, as well as extremely unrewarding,
which could be discouraging for the youngsters. A common
complaint amongst young employees is the low wage, which in
most cases ends with resignation. By ensuring satisfactory
remuneration the establishment will gain a higher level of
popularity amongst the unemployed.

On the other hand, offering a training program is also a great

opportunity to attract younger applicants, due to the fact that it
would probably be the first employment for most of them. If
teaching the basics is included in the working experience, both
parties will be satisfied. Not only does proper coaching set a solid
foundation for the trainees, but it also instils a sense of security
and confidence in them, enhancing their productivity. Only when
employees are trained well can a business prosper.

In conclusion, it is safe to say that both methods could encourage

teenagers to work in food enterprises, however, I am convinced
that on-the-job training, with its benefits for both employers and
employees, is the more crucial approach.

Informal letter:
Hi Sonya!
How are you? I’m glad you wrote me about the festival, which
you are going to prepare food for. I have a few uncomplicated tips
that are not only going to ensure your fabulous performance, but
also guarantee the guests’ satisfaction.
One of the most crucial steps to take into consideration are
people’s allergies and preferences. In order to achieve that, you
should do research and arrange the menu carefully. Another tip I
could give you is to taste everything while preparing the food, as
well as make adjustments accordingly. In addition, it would also
be helpful to develop a strict plan of all the main tasks, so that the
whole process goes smoothly. If anything goes wrong, don’t
panic! Just work out the mistake and continue with the next task.
What is more, don’t forget to pay attention to the details, since
they can take your organisation to the next level. However, don’t
strive for absolute perfection, just do your best.
I was also extremely anxious the first time I took part in such
activity, but I was surprised to find out that it wasn’t stressful at
all! I actually had great time and would definitely do it again.
This is the reason why I guarantee you that everything is going to
go as planned, so don’t be on edge and remember to have fun in
the process.
I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. Take care!
Best wishes,
Daniela
