Ravi went to market along with his grandfather and purchased a weighing machine.
They came back to their society complex and entered the lift. Ravi placed the
weighing machine on the floor of the lift and asked his grandfather to stand on it .The
reading on the machine was 5Okg. When the lift started moving up, the reading
increased to 75kg and when the lift stopped at the 10th floor, the reading again
dropped to 50kg.They both camne out of the lift and went to their apartment .His
grandfather again checked his weight and found it again 50kg.His grandfather was
confused and insisted machine is faulty .They said that machine should be replaced.
Ravi told to him that machine is not faulty and explained why the machine is
showing different readings.
(a) What are the values exhibited by Ravi?
(b) Why does the machine show increased reading during upward motion?
