there to hold your
hand and support you, when you need them.

(group of 3).

Partner: "I really love the quote 'Family is a life jacket in the stormy
sea of life.' It's such a powerful image."

You: "I completely agree. It's a beautiful way to describe the support
and comfort that family provides during difficult times. Have you
had any experiences where your family has been like a life jacket for
you?"

Partner: "Definitely. When I was going through a tough period at

work, my family was there to offer encouragement and help me
navigate through the challenges. What about you?"

You: "Absolutely. When I faced a health issue a few years ago, my

family rallied around me, support and take care. It was like they
were my life jacket, It's during those times that you really realize the
power of family."

Partner: "That's so true. It's amazing how supportive and comforting

family can be when we need them the most. On a related note, what
do you think about the quote 'Family is not always about blood.
Sometimes, it’s about who is there to hold your hand and support
you when you need them'?"

You: "I think that quote is incredibly meaningful. It's a reminder that
family goes beyond biological relationships and encompasses the
connections we create with those who provide us with unwavering
support. Have you experienced the impact of chosen family in your
life?"

Partner: "Definitely. I have close friends who have been there for me
through thick and thin, and their support has been as crucial as that
of my biological family. How about you?"

You: "Absolutely. I've had mentors and friends who have filled a
parental role and provided guidance and support when I needed it the
most. It just goes to show that family is so much more than just
blood relations."

Partner: "I couldn't agree more. These quotes really capture the
essence of what family means in our lives, the crucial role it plays in
providing love, support, and understanding during life's challenges."

You: "Exactly. Whether it's biological family, chosen family, or a

combination of both, the essence of these quotes resonates with the
universal need for a strong support system and meaningful
connections.
Partner: "Well said. It's clear that the concept of family extends far
beyond traditional notions, and these quotes beautifully capture the
depth and significance of these relationships. It's comforting to know
that we can draw strength and support.

CARD 13 ‫ ׀‬Family There are two famous sayings: - “Family is not an

important thing. It's everything.” – Michael J. Fox. - “A person sometimes
needs to separate himself from family and friends and go to new places in
order to change” – Katherine Butler Hathaway Discuss with your partner and
say which statements you agree with and explain why.
Person 1: "So, we're considering these two famous sayings about the
importance of family and the idea of separating oneself from family and
friends. What are your thoughts on these quotes?"

Person 2: "Well, the first quote by Michael J. Fox really resonates with me.
'Family is not an important thing. It's everything.' I believe that family plays a
central role in providing support and a sense of belonging. They are the ones
who are there for you through thick and thin."

Person 1: "I completely agree. Family provides that foundational support that
is crucial for our well-being. But I can also see the point in the second quote
by Katherine Butler Hathaway, 'A person sometimes needs to separate
himself from family and friends and go to new places in order to change.'"

Person 2: "That's true. Sometimes stepping out of our comfort zone and
experiencing new things can be really beneficial for personal growth. It
allows us to gain new perspectives and develop a deeper understanding of
ourselves."

Person 1: "Absolutely. I think both perspectives have their merits. It's like
striking a balance between cherishing the support and love from family while
also exploring new opportunities for personal development."

Person 2: "Exactly. Finding that balance is key. I believe that while family is
crucial, there are also valuable lessons to be learned from stepping out on our
own and experiencing new things."

Person 1: "I couldn't agree more. It's about recognizing the importance of
family while also embracing the potential for growth that comes from
independence and new experiences."
