Student academic performance is one of the main indicators used to evaluate the

quality of education in universities. Study habits are one of many variables that affect
academic achievement, which is a complex process. A study habit is a unique individual
practice that combines skill and study approaches. Good study habits comprise actions
and abilities that can boost drive, make studying more efficient, and improve learning.
Study habits are the key to success and vary from person to person. It also defined this
skill as any action that aids in learning about a subject, solving difficulties, or recalling
some or all of the offered materials.
The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly altered the global education sector,
requiring adjustments to school curricula to accommodate online distance learning and
to provide students with continuous education. Although classes have not been
disrupted, there is interest in assessing how the students have been affected by this
contingency period. Students must change their study habits and approach learning
differently than they would in traditional face-to-face classes to perform effectively and
adapt to this new learning method.

This chapter explains the data, ideas, and guidelines relevant to the research
study. Authors, websites, and publications' information was used since they offered
useful insights for the study.

Palacios & Berger (2022) investigate the influence of friends on early adolescent
academic performance. Their research study showed that friends have a significant
influence on how students adjust to school, their attitudes, and their behaviors.
According to their findings, students tended to change their academic performance to
match that of their friends.

According to Patrao (2022), sleep deprivation can have several negative impacts
on college students, including decreased attention spans, lower learning capacities,
emotional swings, memory lapses, and difficulties with cognitive tasks like problem-
solving and critical reasoning. Moreover, lack of sleep can affect students' performance
when they take on extra obligations like internships, projects, assignments, and in
certain cases, even part-time work. It could also result in a lack of drive and interest in
academics.

Bashir & Gupta (2019) examine the relationship between procrastination and
academic performance among university students. The findings show that there is an
important negative relationship between students' academic procrastination and
performance. Moreover, there was a negative correlation between students' academic
performance and aspects of academic procrastination, such as time management, task
aversiveness, authenticity, and personal initiative. It shows that people with higher
levels of academic procrastination perform poorly academically.
