1. Objective
This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is intended to assist in monitoring
process of submission of Final Projects (TA) to determining TA Supervisors.

2. Legal basis
This regulation on TA Proposal submission at Bachelor’s Degree Program in
Mathematics (MSP) was prepared based on:
a. UNS Academic Handbook for 2005/2006 Academic Year;
b. FMNS UNS Academic Guidelines for 2004/2005 Academic Year;
c. results of Committee Meeting for the Preparation of Faculty-level Regulation
on TA Implementation;
d. results of Bandungan Workshop on 10-12 November 2006;
e. results of Study Program Meeting on 17 February 2009;
f. MSP FMNS SP Workshop on 15 December 2009.
g. UNS Rector’s Regulation No. 19 of 2017 concerning the Assessment of Credits
for Functional Positions and Lecturer Rank in UNS;
h. UNS Rector’s Regulation No. 582/UN27/HK/2016 on the Administration and
Management of Education at Bachelor’s Degree Programmes;.
i. results of Workshop on TA Implementation for MSP UNS on 04-05 August
2017;
j. results of Workshop on SOP Review at Best Western Hotel, Solo Baru, on 11
November 2017; and
k. results of Workshop on SOP Review at UNS Inn, on 23 March 2019;

3. Scope of work
This work is aimed at Students, the TA Commission, TA examiners, TA
supervisors, and MSP Secretariat.

4. Definition
a. Final Project (TA) is the concluding project that students need to finish as
the requirements for completing their Bachelor’s Degree Programme.
b. TA Proposal is a document proposed by students containing plans and
suggestions to their TA.
c. The Final Project Commission (TA Commission) is a group of lecturers,
representing all fields of expertise in MSP, appointed by Head of the Study
Program to handle TA process.
d. Consultant Lecturers any lecturer giving directions on the matters or the
initial idea of the project proposed.
e. TA Examiners are lecturers examining students proposing TA; they should
have appropriate expertise with the proposed TA.
f. TA Supervisors are lecturers appointed by the TA Commission to supervise
their students in completing their TA.

5. Procedures
a. TA Proposal submission
1) Course selection requirements
(a) Students desiring to select TA Proposal course are required to pass a
minimum of 100 course credits.
(b) MSP through its TA Commission circulates research topic offers to
students in each beginning of semester. Students can choose their
research topic from this offer or submit other topic of their interest.

2) Registration
(a) TA Proposals are registered in MSP secretariat. Registrations are held
twice in a semester.
(b)
(c) These events are each closed on Friday at 3.30 PM: the first is on the
2nd week of the academic year while the second is on the 10 th week of
the academic year.
(d) During registration, students should fill the provided registration
form. They should attach it with the list of courses attempted with
their respective grades and the list of presently attempted courses
provided in the recent Course Selection Sheet (KRS).
(e)
(f) This form and grade list should be signed by the Academic Advisor
(PA).
(g) The TA Proposal and all of its relevant requirements should be
submitted in one bundle to the MSP secretariat on the registration
date.

b. Administrative requirements and TA Proposal evaluation


1) Administrative requirements
(a) Administrative requirement check is conducted by administrator on
TA Proposal submission.
(b) The requirements aforementioned refer to those included in the TA
Proposal submission form.
(c) Students who do not meet prescribed requirements would be halted
from proceeding to the next process of TA Proposal submission.

(d) The Administrative Division then circulates a list of names of students


and their respective TA Proposal titles to the TA Commission
coordinator.
(e)

2) TA Proposal evaluation
(a) TA Proposals are evaluated by the TA Commission in no later than one
week after the end of TA Proposal submission period.
(b) The evaluation is especially stressed in writing format and title
appropriateness.
(c) A TA proposal title is considered as inappropriate if it reflects a very
extensive or very constricted topic, or is a reduplication of similar TA
submitted by other students before or at a concurrent period.
(d) The TA Commission with the TA Proposal examiners are obliged to
check and verify title originality.

c. TA Proposal Examination
1) Scheduling
(a) Examination on the TA Proposal is scheduled by the TA Commission in
agreement with the Examiners, by considering the TA Proposal
variation, availability of examiners, and availability of schedule.
(b) Similar to TA Proposal submission, the examination is conducted in
two periods: first, starting from the fourth Monday and then starting
from the 12th Monday in each semester.

(a) The TA Commission may determine the Examiners for TA Proposal


Examination by referring to suitability of lecturer expertise to TA
titles and lecturer availability.
(b) Three examiners are selected to conduct examination to a TA
Proposal.

3) Execution
(a) TA Proposal Examination is conducted in MSP FMNS UNS.
(b) Students are obliged to submit three copies of their TA Proposal in no
later than five days before their Examination schedule and a revised
copy for the TA Commission’s archives.
(c) The examination consists of two agendas conducted in a maximum of
60 minutes: idea presentation (a maximum of 20 minutes) and
question-and-answer session.
(d)
(e) Head of the study program has a power to substitute the member(s)
of the Council who does not attend the Examination due to abrupt
hindrances.
(f)

4) Chairperson of Examination
(a) In each Examination session, the position of Chairperson may be
exercised by the Consultant Lecturer or appointed from the existing
Examiners.
(b) The Chairperson is responsible in filling out the TA Proposal
Examination Report, consisting of matters needing revision from each
Examiners.

5) Scoring
(a) TA Proposal examination uses scale of 100 for its scoring.
(b) Components of assessment include: 1. Proposal preparation (40%):
grammar and systematisation (20%), title appropriateness (15%),
introduction & problem statement (20%), literature review (20%),
research objectives & method (25%); 2. Presentation (20%); and 3.
Defense ability (including behaviour) (40%).

d. Proposal revision
1) Students are obliged to take a copy of Note Sheet on TA Proposal
Examination a day after the examination schedule.
2) Students are obliged to revise TA Proposal according to TA Proposal
Examination Report.
3) Revised proposal should be returned to the TA Commission in no later than
two weeks, or fourteen working days, after the Examination.
4) The revision should be approved by all examiners and bound in light blue
cover with writing format according to the provided guidelines.
5) Late or lack of submission of revision would result in reexamination with
the same composition of examiners.

e. Determination of TA Supervisor
Supervisor for TA process are announced in no later than one week after the
last day of submission of the revised proposal. Procedure to determine TA
Supervisor is regulated in TA Administration SOP.
