STAGES OF TEAM
FORMATION
The first stage: lapping.
At first glance, the team looks businesslike and organized,
but in fact people look at each other and try to determine
how deeply they want to get into all this.

Genuine feelings are often hidden, one person increases his

authority, and interaction takes place in familiar
forms. There is almost no genuine discussion of the goals
and methods of work.
People are often not interested in their colleagues, almost
do not listen to each other, and creative and inspiring
teamwork is virtually absent.
STAGES OF TEAM
FORMATION
The second stage: close fight.

Many teams go through a period of upheaval,

when the leader's contribution is assessed, coalitions and
groupings are formed, disagreements are expressed openly
and acutely.

Personal relationships become important, people's

strengths and weaknesses manifest themselves. The team
starts discussing how to reach an agreement and tries to
improve the relationship. Sometimes there is a power
the struggle for leadership.
STAGES OF TEAM
FORMATION
The third stage: experimentation.
The potential of the team is increasing, and the question
arises how to use the abilities and resources now available.

Often such a team works in spurts, but there is energy and

interest in understanding how to work better. Working
methods are being reviewed, there is a desire to
experiment, and measures are being taken to improve
productivity.
STAGES OF TEAM
FORMATION
The fourth stage: efficiency.
The team gains experience in successfully solving problems
and using resources.

The emphasis is on the efficient use of time and on the

refinement of tasks. Employees begin to be proud of their
belonging to the "winning team". They look at problems
realistically and solve them creatively.

Management functions smoothly move from one

employee to another, depending on the specific task.
STAGES OF TEAM
FORMATION
The fifth stage: maturity.
In a mature team, there are strong bonds between its
members. People are accepted and appreciated, not by
claims.

The relationship is informal and satisfying. Personal

differences are quickly resolved.

The team turns into a safe cell

society and is admired by outsiders. She is able to show
excellent results and sets high standards of achievement.
STAGES OF TEAM FORMATION

To achieve the maturity stage and such a result, it is important that the following conditions are met:
all team members clearly understand the goals and benefits of working together;

the skills of each person are known to others and the functions are distributed;

the organizational structure of the team corresponds to the task being performed;

the team is searching for new and more advanced methods of work;

self-discipline is developed, which allows efficient use of time and resources;

sufficient opportunities have been created to gather and discuss any issues, resolve conflicts;

the team supports its members and creates close relationships;

the relationships in the team are open, and it is ready to meet any difficulties and obstacles on the way to
effective work.

THE ROLE OF THE LEADER IN THE
DYNAMICS OF GROUP DEVELOPMENT
Dynamics of the group's development
This is the development and movement of the group in
time, where the interaction and
relationship of the group between themselves and the
leader takes place.

At the formation stage, the team leader should give the

participants time to get acquainted, and encourages
informal communication.

The stage of disagreement: the team leader should

encourage its members to participate in management,
discuss goals, tasks, and put forward new ideas. At this
stage, some groups may break up, others adapt to
contradictions, suppress them, or openly discuss them.

The successful completion of this stage largely depends on

the team leader, who must guide the group from confusion
to the next stage.
THE ROLE OF THE LEADER IN THE
DYNAMICS OF GROUP DEVELOPMENT
The rationing stage: the leader should focus on unity,
harmony in the team and help its members in
understanding its norms and values.

The stage of functioning: the leader should focus on

achieving high results. To do this, it is necessary to
fulfill both roles aimed at achieving goals and at social
interaction.

Disbandment stage: to mitigate the negative

consequences, the leader may declare the termination
of the team's activities at a solemn meeting, distribute
awards, prizes or commemorative badges.
