OMISSION - An omission is something that has not been included or has not been done, either
deliberately or accidentally. Omission is the act of not including a particular part of speech, tense
forms, sentence formation etc.
Eg. Read the following passage. There is one word missing in each line where a slash (/) has
been marked. Write the correct word in the space provided -

Man is basically / animal. The instinct of fighting is a)

EDITING -The process of correcting and adapting a text, such as a paragraph or


an article. It is also a part of grammar section where the incorrect parts of speech,
tense forms etc are given and students have to correct those forms.

against which a numeral is given. Write the incorrect word and the correction in
the space provided. Remember to underline the word that you have supplied

Correct the Errors in the paragraphs


On cold, wet morning, my class was filled with excitement. Someone (1) have discover that the next day
was our teacher's birthday. Our teacher was the kindest person that ever (2) exist. Thus it (3) is no surprise
she was the favourite teacher (4) to the pupils. Everyone (5) want to get her a present. I, very much wanted

EVALUATE THE PASSAGE AND CORRECT THE ERRORS.


Haziq is a 27-year-old engineer. He (1) never knows his parents. He was raised in an orphanage in Kuala
Perlis. His parents (2) are sending him to the orphanage when he was three years old, as they were too poor
to give him proper care. He was brought up with other orphans who he fondly (3) considering as his
siblings.
He won a scholarship to study engineering at the University of Cambridge. In London, he (4) is attending a
course in genealogy which sparked his interest to find his parents. He vows he would track his parents as
he (5) wanted to know more about himself. When he (6) had returned to Malaysia in 2009, he went back to
the orphanage and started his journey of looking for his parents. Heempathises with other people who (7)
are looking for their long-lost relatives. This is the reason why he started his new company called
Reunited-to reconnect people with their lost loved ones. He believes a lot of people are interested in
reconnecting with their past.
Reunited has been successful in reuniting clients with their loved ones. However, Haziq (8) was still
searching for his parents. He (9) knew his journey will not be an easy one and he may end up at a dead
end. Nevertheless, he (10) has determined to keep tracking his parents and will not give up easily.
