GEE 313 – The Entrepreneurial Mind

Anna Magkawas is a simple "probinsyana" from Tiaong, Quezon, who has always wanted to
own her own business and is now making her dreams a reality. Anna Magkawas learned to be
self-sufficient at a young age by selling chocolates and candies to her cousins and playmates.
During her summer vacations, she would frequently open a mini sari-sari store or assist her
grandmother in selling "lugaw" (rice porridge) in the neighborhood. Anna Magkawas is a name
synonymous with a luxury bag guru at the start of her career. Her "fake vs. real" vlog entries
propelled her to YouTube stardom. Meanwhile, the COVID-19 pandemic provided her with
more opportunities to explore the beauty and wellness industries. She acknowledged that at first,
she was hesitant to take a chance and start a skincare company. But when she became the
testimony for her own products, her fears were turned into a big break. Anna Magkawas first
puts her products to use before letting customers see the outcome. Her wellness and beauty
products are presently offered internationally, including in the USA, Australia, Canada, New
Zealand, Qatar, Dubai, Singapore, and more. Despite the fact that Luxe Beauty and Wellness is
still very new, Anna Magkawas described how the business has been able to support both her
family and her distributors.

5 Qualities of Anna Magkawas:

1) Self-starting – since she started small even as a kid, then eventually become a CEO of her own
business.
2) Passionate – I believe that all entrepreneurs are passionate about what they do, because if
they’re not they won’t become a successful entrepreneur.
3) Curious – since she is not really into skincare products.
4) Risk-taker – once again because she doesn’t know anything about skincare, and for that reason
she become a risk taker for starting a business that is not her forte.
5) Critical thinker – because of her critical thinking skills she was able to create more
opportunities and maintain her competitive edge that leads her to where she is now.
