To whom it may concern,

I wish to be considered for a full-time dental hygienist position. My Dental Hygiene education
has prepared me well for such a position as well as my experience as a dental assistant.

I expect to graduate this May from the Associate of Applied Science Degree Program in Dental
Hygiene at Lansing Community College (LCC). The program is CODA accredited and
incorporates four Clinical Dental Hygiene courses which involve hands-on training in the LCC
Dental Clinic. This is a full-service clinic with 2 dentists and offers services to individuals and
families from the surrounding community, serving youth through elderly individuals, including
persons with special needs. I am taking the Clinical Dental Hygiene IV course this semester.
Under supervision, I am performing an array of duties, including:
 Taking and recording medical histories, assessing dental hygiene needs, and developing
treatment plans.
 Cleaning teeth and beneath gum margins, removing hard and soft deposits from teeth,
and polishing and flossing teeth.
 Examining gums for recession, sores, and signs of possible gum disease.
 Screening for oral cancer.
 Taking digital radiographs.
 Applying fluorides and sealants.
 Educating patients on oral hygiene and providing preventative dental care.
 Documenting periodontal and restorative areas of failure and providing comprehensive
charting.
 Assisting dentists during exams.
 Using Eaglesoft and Dentrix software.

Prior to pursuing Dental Hygiene, I gained experience at Riverview Dental as a dental assistant. I
also have a combined 6 years of experience working with the community in healthcare as a
phlebotomist/specimen processor and dialysis technician. I worked diligently as a member of the
team. I demonstrated strong time management, good team player, and efficient multi-tasking
skills. I handled large workloads and managed a range of individual needs with poise and
efficiency. I could be counted on to work when scheduled and pitch in extra hours when needed.

I am providing you with a copy of my resume and thank you for your consideration. I can be
reached at (989) 494-2289 or daniellerdh24@gmail.com. I am enthusiastic about this
opportunity, for your dental office has earned a strong reputation and my preference is to work in
a large dental center. I look forward to hearing from you and interviewing for this position.

Sincerely,

Danielle Cowdrey
