Measurements Pattern Notes
Approximately 13 ½” tall with worsted This pattern is untested and may contain
weight yarn errors. It is written in US terminology. This
pattern can also be made with any yarn and

Long Feathers (Make 6)

Row 1: starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 3 sts,

continue working on other side of ch, dc in next 13
sts, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 3 sts
Finish off and leave a long tail to sew 2 feathers
together and attach to body.

Assembly Attach Nose to Beak where the stitch marker was


placed and sew around beak.
Head
Sew Upper and Lower sections of face together and
attach to head. Also sew 3 head feathers above
face. 1 large feather in the middle and 1 small
feather on each side.

Using the pattern pieces, cut out 2 Irises and 2
Pupils. Pin felt eyes to face and glue on with Attach one large head feather above one small head
preferred method. Embroider on eyebrows with feather at the back of the head.

Body
Attach Wings at about 5-6 rounds down from the
top of the body.
Using the pattern pieces, cut out 2 Bottom
Headphone and 2 Upper Headphone. Cut out a
piece of black felt that is 8” x ½” for the strap. Glue
on the Bottom Headphones and ,when attaching
the Upper Headphone, sandwich the strap between
the two pieces. Wrap and glue the strap to the
head, slightly curving around the head.

Cut out black felt pieces for epaulettes that are ½”


wide and long enough to fit between the wing and
under the collar. Cut out a small circle with gold felt
to create buttons. Attach with hot glue or your
preferred method.

Attach Collar to the top of the Body, sew both tie
pieces together and sew in the middle of the collar.

Legs
Sew the legs to the top of feet & sew the legs to the
bottom of the body.
Cut out a piece of black felt that is 1 ¼” x ¾” to
create the badge. Using gold embroidery thread,
sew along the edge of the badge. Attach with hot
glue or your preferred method.

Using grey embroidery thread, embroider a belt


buckle onto the black belt section of the body. With
the black felt cut a rectangle that is 1 ½” x ¾” and
one that is 1 ½” x 1 ½”. Round the corners, glue
together to create a faux pocket, and glue to black
belt section of body.

Sew large & small tail feathers together like pictured


below. Sandwich 2 together and sew to create a
feather. Sew 3 feathers to the back of body to create
tail.

Congratulations!
Your Orville is complete. To make Wilbur you can add some sunglasses and change the headphone type as
shown in the picture below.
