Activities For Pete The Cat
I tell the student we are working with a story but first they have to draw three shoes, then they
have to colour them how they want and cut them. Finally, I put a chart on the blackboard and
they have to stand up and put the shoes in the correct space.

Then I tell them the protagonist of the story is Pete de Cat and they have to draw how they
imagine him.Also I explain the use of like and don´t like so they both understand the song and
do an activity later.
Activity: 30´
I give them a copy of the story with some missing words they have to complete, then I narrate
it once showing flashcard of the words they may not know, for example strawberries,
blueberries and mud. The second time I narrate the story they have to complete. After we
correct I narrate the story a third time and ask them to sing with me.
Narrator 1: Pete the Cat was walking down the street in his new white shoes. He loved
hisshoes so much that he sang a song.
Pete the Cat: I like my ------shoes. I like my ----- shoes. I like my ----- shoes.
Narrator 1: Oh no! Pete stepped in a pile of strawberries! It turned his shoes red.
Narrator 2: Did he cry? Goodness, no! He kept walking along and singing his song.
Pete the Cat: I like my ----- shoes. I like my ----- shoes I like my ----- shoes.
Narrator 1: Oh no! Pete stepped in a large pile of blueberries. It turned his shoes blue.
Narrator 2: Did he cry? Goodness, no! He kept walking along and singing his song.
Pete the Cat: I like my ----- shoes. I like my ----- shoes. I like my ----- shoes.
Narrator 1: Oh no! Pete stepped in a puddle of mud! It turned his shoes brown.
Narrator 2: Did he cry? Goodness, no! He kept walking along and singing his song.
Pete the Cat: I like my ----- shoes. I like my ----- shoes. I like my ----- shoes.
Narrator 1: Oh no! Pete stepped in a bucket of water. All the red, blue, and brown
were washed away. His shoes were white again. But now they were wet.
Narrator 2: Did he cry? Goodness, no! He kept walking along and singing his song.
Pete the Cat: I like my wet shoes. I like my wet shoes. I like my wet shoes.
Narrator 1: The moral of the story is: no matter what you step in, keep walking along
and singing your song, because it’s all good.
Then they have to write two sentences using like and don´t like, for example;
They have to change the story with the colours they want, for example; I like my green shoes
