Dear applicants,

We are happy to welcome you at Goethe University in December this year. Given
questions that have reached us from your end and topics you may wonder about
shortly, we collated important information for your taking up of studies in the Master of
Science (MSc) program below. Please take your time to read all sections carefully.

Admission Letter
You have already or will shortly receive formal letters of admission by post.
Additionally, you can download the official admission confirmation via the Goethe-
Campus portal. Apart from confirming your admission, these letters also include
information on the documentation required for your enrolment. Please ensure you
(physically) mail said documents by August 9th. If you are concerned about timely
delivery by postal services, please scan and email the “signed application for
enrolment” and your “proof of payment of the semester fees” to Student Services (ssc-
mastereinschreibung@uni-frankfurt.de).1
If you applied online only, i.e. did not send your hardcopy documents to uni-assist, or
prior to having graduated from your undergraduate program, please ensure you also
mail the required certified copy (including a translation, where applicable) to Student
Services. Please do furthermore ensure you are able to present all your application
documentation and certificates after your arrival in Germany (including original IELTS/
Toefl/ GMAT/ GRE test certificates, where applicable).
You also require German health insurance coverage. Coverage can be applied for with
most providers.
If you have further questions on the enrolment process, please contact our colleagues
in charge of admissions at Student Services (ssc-mastereinschreibung@uni-
frankfurt.de).

Visa Application
Please make yourself familiar with the requirements for the visa application at the
German Embassy or Consulate General in whose consular district you reside. If the
hard copy admission letter has not reached you yet, you may apply for a visa using the
(equally official) digital version, which you can download from the Goethe-Campus
portal.
If you require a confirmation letter that you must attend university in person for the visa
process, kindly email io-sozial@uni-frankfurt.de to receive it.

1
Please note that the requirement of proof of sufficient German proficiency is mentioned in your admission letters but does not
apply to you since our program is instructed in English only.
International incoming students may also want to visit the International Office’s website
for further information on deadlines, important dates and general orientation.

Mode of Teaching
All students are required to first take the mandatory “Fundamental Courses”. Lectures
pertaining to these courses are only offered in the winter term. According to program
regulations, you must pass these courses by the end of the second semester at the
latest. It is therefore effectively not possible to postpone the start of your studies in the
summer term.
Please find further information on the program structure on our website. Courses and
seminars offered in a given semester as well as the respective schedule and teaching
locations are published in our course catalogue (QIS/LSF). The course catalogue will
likely be subject to several updates, with more detailed information on classes being
added, until the beginning of the semester in December.
All courses and seminars in the winter term 2024 are scheduled to be held in person
on campus in Frankfurt am Main, the regulatory environment permitting. However, it is
important to note that seminars and examinations usually require personal attendance
and your absence from courses taught in person or examinations is at your own risk.
Therefore, please endeavor to arrive in Frankfurt am Main in time for the beginning of
the semester.

Contact with Fellow Students

We understand that you may want to get in touch with your fellow students. These
contacts will help you exchange information or form study groups. In the past, we
provided a mailing list with contacts of the new cohort. We do, however, require your
permission to share your email address with your colleagues. Therefore, please grant
your permission to share your email address via an email to our office, if you are
interested. It is usually ideal if one student sets up a group on social media / via a
messenger service and invites the rest of the cohort.
We also plan to facilitate elections for up to two student representatives for your cohort.
If you interested to stand for election, please contact our office for further information.

Examination Requirements
In order to be able to register for exams during your studies, please make sure to sign
and submit the “Admission to Master’s Examination” form to the examination office via
e-mail. Please do so right at the start of your studies in December. The necessary
form will be uploaded to the faculty’s download section shortly.
The examination office communicates news and updates on examination procedures
via a dedicated website (changes owing to the pandemic in particular). Once you have
received login credentials for your student email address, you will also receive pointers
to any such updates via email. Those login credentials are typically only provided to
you on campus, Student Services will inform you of the procedure in this regard.
Further explanations on the exam registration process are provided on our website.

Orientation Program in October

The International Office offers an Orientation Program for international master students
in October. Separately, our program coordination team will offer an information session
on topics specific to our program and to facilitate student representative elections.

MMF Double Degree Option

The Faculty of Economics and Business offers a Double Degree Master Program in
cooperation with our partner university Université Paris Dauphine-PSL for students
enrolled in the "Master of Science in Money and Finance" (MMF). Participants will
obtain two degrees: Goethe-University’s M.Sc. of Money and Finance and the
Université Paris Dauphine-PSL’s “Master in Economie et Finance". With this double
degree, students will benefit from an additional and distinct qualification providing
excellent chances on the international labor market. Please find further information
here.

Vaccinations
All residents of Frankfurt am Main or the state of Hesse (i.e. after the above-mentioned
registration of your address is done) with valid health insurance coverage are eligible
to receive Covid-19 vaccination. Please sign up for an appointment via this website or
with a general practitioner of your choice.
