1. SCOPE:

2. CHEMISTRY:
The composition of the product supplied shall conform to the analysis limits as determined in accordance
with QQ-N-286E. Reported analysis shall include the results of quantitative determination of all elements
listed, plus any other elements used to control mechanical properties.

3. MECHANICAL PROPERTIES:

3.1 The material shall conform to the requirements listed in QQ-N-286E and NACE MR0175-2000:

Tensile strength 130 ksi minimum 896MPa

Yield strength 90 ksi minimum 621MPa
Elongation 20% minimum
Hardness 35 HRc maximum
Hardness testing shall be performed in accordance with ASTM E18.
K500 FASTENER MATERIAL

4. CONDITION:
4.1 To protect the threads from damage, each bolt shall have thread sleeves or be placed in
compartmentalized cartons.
4.2 Each fastener shall be marked or stamped with an identifier unique to this alloy. For example, some
bolt heads may be stamped with 'CL500' or 'K'. products too small to be stamped or marked shall have
the alloy identified on the packaging.

5. QUALITY:
Vendor and supplier workmanship, dimensions, weights and tolerances shall meet applicable specifications
and standards with exceptions as noted.

6. REPORTS:
6.1 A Certified Mill Test Report shall accompany material ordered to this specification. The Certification
Report shall contain the following minimum information:
1. Statement of Material Condition: Cleanliness (Ref. Paragraph 4.2)
2. Chemical Analysis (Ref. Paragraph 2)
3. Mechanical Properties to include: hardness, tensile strength, yield strength and elongation.
4. Heat treatment times and temperature, as applicable.
5. Material Identification Number (Heat or Lot Number)
6. All Certification Test Sheets to reference BHGE Purchasing Order number and BHGE Part
number. Fasteners purchased in bulk shall be recertified for each purchase order.
6.2 For cold worked products with insufficient material for mechanical property test, (i.e. lock washers)
the Certification Report shall contain the following minimum information:
1. Statement of Material Condition: Cleanliness (Ref. Paragraph 4.2)
2. Chemical Analysis (Ref. Paragraph 2)
3. Pre-cold worked material Properties to include: hardness, tensile strength, yield strength and
elongation.
4. Post-cold worked material hardness
5. Material identification Number (Heat or Lot Number)
6. All Certification Test Sheets to reference BHGE Purchasing Order number and BHGE part
number. Fasteners purchased in bulk shall be recertified for each purchase order.
6.3 Attributes not specified in Paragraph 6.1 are not subject to routine receiving inspection. All properties
defined or referenced by QQ-N-286E.
