Formulas used and calculations performed to calculate the area of each type of lining
material. (50-100 words)

To determine the required lining material, the area, say 15m x 25m, equals 375m². If each
board covers 3m², dividing the total area by coverage (375m² ÷ 3m²/board) gives the
number of boards needed, resulting in 125 boards. This precise calculation method
ensures efficient material usage, minimizing wastage while meeting the specified
dimensions. It's a systematic approach vital in construction planning, ensuring not only
accuracy but also optimal resource utilization, thereby contributing to cost-effectiveness
and project sustainability.

Formulas used and calculations performed to calculate the total area of the building wrap
and of each type of external cladding material (50-70 words)

To calculate the area, multiply the length by the width. For instance, a 15-meter length
and 2.7-meter height result in an area of 40.5m². To determine the material required for
cladding boards measuring 1.2m x 2.4m (2.88m² each), divide the total area (40.5m²) by
the area covered by one board (2.88m²). This yields approximately 14.0624 boards,
rounded up to 15 boards. This precise calculation ensures adequate material coverage for
the specified area, ensuring efficient construction practices.

Formulsa used and calculations performed to calculate the total area of each type of
roofing material (50-70 words)

To calculate the roof area, multiply the length (11.582m) by the breadth (2.1336m) to get
the total area of 24.711m². Additionally, considering specific sections, like 3.96m *
11.582m, gives 45.86m², and 2.1336m * 11.582m equals 24.711m². When summed, the
total area of the roof is 141.14m². These precise measurements ensure accurate material
estimates and effective construction planning, crucial for a successful roofing project.

Formula used and calculations performed to calculate the quantity of materials that are
measured by volume. (50-70 words)

The initial brick size is 76mm x 230mm x 110mm. After considering mortar, the size becomes 0.07m
x 0.231m x 0.111m, which equals 0.0017m³ for one brick. By dividing 1m³ (standard volume) by
0.0017m³, approximately 559 bricks are needed for this size and mortar configuration. This precise
calculation ensures efficient brick estimation for construction purposes.

Formulas used and calculations performed to calculate the quantity of wall and roof
framing materials (50-100 words)

The roof dimensions are 11.582m in length and 2.1336m in breadth. Additionally, a section
measuring 3.96m x 11.582m results in an area of 45.86m², and a section of 2.1336m x 11.582m
equals 24.711m². When combined, the total roof area is 141.14m². These precise measurements
ensure accurate material estimates and effective construction planning, crucial for the successful
completion of the roofing project.

Formulsa used and calculations performed to calculate the dimensions and quantity of
sheets of each type of flooring and lining material, ensuring that the most economical
layout is employed. (50-100 words)

The wall area is 16.2 m² (5.4m x 3m). Each sheet covers 2.88 m² (2.4m x 1.2m). Without
openings, 16.2 m² divided by 2.88 m² per sheet equals 5.6, rounded up to 6 sheets

Version Number: 10 (Review date: 01/06/2022) Unit Code: CPCCOM3001 Page 31 of 52

required. Considering an opening of 2.1m x 0.9m (1.89 m²), the net area becomes 14.31
m². Each sheet covers 2.88 m². Hence, 14.31 m² divided by 2.88 m² per sheet equals 4.96,
rounded up to 5 sheets needed when accounting for the opening. This calculation ensures
precise material estimation for construction purposes.

Formulas used and calculations performed to calculate the length of linear flooring and
lining material, ensuring that the most economical layout is employed. (50-100 words)

L=20 and breadth = 10m

L*B = 200m2

Width = 139mm . convert = .139m

200m2/.139mm = 1438.84.

Now work out the number of boards: 1.1 to account for any waste.

1438.84 *1.1 = 1581 * 3 will be needed.

Formulas used and calculations performed to calculate the dimensions and quantity of
sheets of external cladding material, ensuring that the most economical layout is
employed. (50-100 words)

Area of 1 wall = 5.4 * 3 = 16.2 m2

Area of 1 tile = .3 * .3 = 0.09m2

Number of tiles = 16.2/0.09 = 182

Now with the openings:

Area of wall = 5.3 * 3= 16.2

Opening area= 2.1 * 0.9 = 1.89m2

Version Number: 10 (Review date: 01/06/2022) Unit Code: CPCCOM3001 Page 32 of 52

Student Pack

Total area = 16.2 – 1.89 = 14.31m2

Area of cladding material = .3 * .3 = .09m2

Number of tiles: 14.31/0.09 = 159 tiles

Formulas used and calculations performed to calculate the length of linear external
cladding material, ensuring that the most economical layout is employed. (50-100 words)

Area = L*B= 5.4 * 3 + 16.2 m2

Area of 1 sheet = 2.4* 1.2 = 2.88m2

Now, calculation of quantity of sheet:

No. of sheets = total area ? area of 1 sheet

No. of sheets + 16.2/2.88 = 5.6 = 6 approximately.

With the opening :

Area of wall = 5.4 * 3 = 16.2 m2

Area of opening = 2.1 * 0.9 = 1.89m2

Net area+ 16.2 – 18.9 = 14.31 m2

Number of sheets required:

No of sheets: - Net area of the wall / Area of one-sheet

No of sheets = 14.31/2.88 = 4.9 = 5 sheets approximately.

Formulas used and calculations performed to calculate the dimensions and quantity of
sheets or units of roofing material, ensuring that the most economical layout is employed
and allowing for overlaps. (50-100 words)

The total area = 141.14m2

Now first determine the total number of squares:Multiply the total footage by 100

141.41/100 = 1.41

Now, determine the bundle of the roof:

= 3 bundles * 1.4114 = 42.3 bundles = 43

Account for waste = add 10%

43 bundles *10% = 4.3

43+4.3 = 47.3 or 48 bundles

Results of calculations as required for costing and ordering materials

Cost of concrete slab

11030 x 6950 x 200mm thick = 15.33m3 @ 265/m3 = $4063 per slab

Timber fram is $150 per LM house is = 36LM x 150 = 5400 excluding roof frame

Roof and seeling frame is 170 per square meter = 77m2 x 170 = $13092

Cladding for external lining for the house, wall lining at 2.7m four walls

2.7m x 7 = 19m2 x 2 sides = 38m2

2.7 x 11.03m = 30m2 x 2 = 60m2

Total of wall area are to be covered is 98m2 at $ 80 per meter square = $7840

7840 + 13090+ 5400+4063 = 30393 +10% = $33432
