A WOMAN HERO
302A PANGANIBAN, YSABELLE JULYANA G.

MALOU PEREZ
This is the story of one brave woman who stood
up and saved 50 pound dogs on death row, bound
to be executed by gunshot. On October 2018, she
founded the PAWSsion Project with an aim to
rescue, rehome, and rehabilitate abused,
abandoned, and neglected animals. Her initiative
began in Bacolod. Numerous cases and reports
poured in, which led to the opening of their
second shelter in Bulacan in 2019. Their vision is
to create animal-friendly communities fostering
kindness to all living creatures to ensure and
protect the freedom of all stray animals. Their
current initiatives include stray feeding, wherein
they prepare and provide nutritionally balanced
meals to hundreds of street dogs daily. They also
coordinate with other stray feeders from around
the country and underprivileged communities who
need help supporting their pet animals.

They also sponsor Spay and Neuter services to help THE PAWSSION PROJECT
with the overpopulation conflict and save the lives of
countless animals. Neutering assists animals in
avoiding displaying aggressive behaviors in their
effort to woo a mate. Another key aspect of their
programs is the Relief Drives. During emergencies
and calamities, PAWSsion extends food and
monetary support to animals and their human
owners. They have also opened their doors to shelter
visits, community donations, adoption, and
sponsorship programs. Moreover, volunteers are
welcome to help with shelter arrangements.

As a Kulasa with a heart for stray cats and dogs, I

take inspiration and strength from stories like Ms.
Malou’s. I hope to direct my efforts and offer my
social media platforms and connections to provide
strays with the life and love they deserve. I have
dedicated my 2023 birthday fundraiser to benefit
Strays Worth Saving. I desire to expand the initiative
through collaborations with other organizations and
artists. I know I may not save all, but I can always
try.
