Bhakti Sastri Course

Aim:
To read, assimilate and apply the teachings of Lord Krsna, as given in Srila Prabhupad’s books in our
life. These books include Bhagavad Gita, Nectar of Devotion, Sri Isopanisad and Nectar of Instruction.

Objectives:
• To demonstrate the spiritual values and teachings in our day-to-day life
• To develop deeper conviction in following Bhakti Yoga process especially hearing, chanting
and reading the scriptures
• To be able to explain any philosophical point clearly and convincingly
• To be able to take shelter of Srila Prabhupad’s books and develop a spiritual outlook in our life
• To be able to do devotional service in a humble mood as a genuine servant of Sri Sri Radha
Gopinatha and Their devotees

Scope:
• Understanding the Bhakti Yoga Philosophy explained in the sastras – Bhagavad Gita, Nectar of
Devotion, Sri Isopanisad and Nectar of Instruction
• Reading the scriptures regularly
• Learning to apply the spiritual wisdom in our life

Timings:
• Every Sunday at 4 pm. The class runs for 2 hours.
• Starting Date: 20th February 2022

Structure:
The course consists of the following six modules:
• Bhagavad Gita (Modules 1,2 & 3)
• Nectar of Devotion (Module 4)
• Sri Isopanisad (Module 5)
• Nectar of Instruction (Module 6)

Course Assessment:
1. Closed Book Test – At the end of each module
2. Open Book Assignment – Essay questions for each module
3. Oral Sloka Test – From the list of slokas given for each module

Marks break up for each module:


• Closed Book Tests (40%)
• Open Book Assignment (30%)
• Oral Sloka Test (20%)
• Attendance (10%)
(An additional short revision test will be held at the end of every chapter of BG and after few chapters
for other books. This test does not count towards the assessment)

Homework: Reading the prescribed study material for a minimum of 2 hours per week.
