There are 832 people living in Penglipuran Village. The 832 individuals
consisted of 425 men and 407 women, with 197 heads of family. The
inhabitants believe that Penglipuran Village used to be inhabited during
the reign of I Dewa Gede Putu Tangkeban III. The majority of people in
Penglipuran Village married people from their own village too, in order to
preserve the family lineage. Therefore, most of the population is still
bound by blood relations with each other.
The entrance fee costs about 3 dollars. It is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Here, you can visit all the villagers’ houses. Here you can take pictures,
visit some beautiful temples, buy some souvenirs, try some traditional
dishes, rent some traditional clothes, and much more. The villagers are
very friendly and cheerful. If you come at the end of the year, there will
be a yearly festival you can enjoy.
