MID TERM 1 Announcements

Marks distribution:

There will be 4 questions of 3.5 marks which is (3.5*4) 14. The 1 mark will be in my hand
for the exam day. If you behave well on the exam day, that 1 mark will be a bonus, if not
then I will not give the mark.

Suggestions:

1. What are the dimensions of health? Write one sign that depicts achievement for
each dimension and how can we improve it?
2. Please write 5 major determinants of health and provide 1 example for each.
3. Name 3 important public health problems in Bangladesh. State 4 differences
between public health and clinical medicine.
4. What is the epidemiological triad? Write 2 characteristics of each and suggest 2
interventions that might help to reduce the connection between the triad
components.
5. Draw a flow chart showing the levels of prevention with a brief description, target
population to be approached for each level, and its correspondence with the natural
history of the disease.
6. What is primary health care? What are the five components of primary health care?
7. What is health disparity? Write about 5 factors/areas that drive health outcomes,
providing 1 example for each.
8. What are the approaches to health education and promotion? Provide 1 example
(e.g., smoking) to describe each approach.
9. State 5 differences between communicable and non-communicable diseases.
10. State 5 steps to break the infection chain.
11. What is antimicrobial resistance? What are the potential causes?
12. What are the primary 5 routes of communicable diseases? Give one example for
each.

13. What are the types of tuberculosis based on site? State the fates of tuberculosis
infection.
14. Briefly describe the fates of tuberculosis in terms of infectivity, sputum positivity,
and exhibiting symptoms.
15. State 5 differences between pulmonary and extra-pulmonary tuberculosis.
16. State 3 symptoms of active tuberculosis and describe how you would diagnose it
using 3 tests.
17. What is DOTS? Outline the essential components and identify who can be the
provider for DOTS.
18. List 5 high-risk populations for HIV infections and state the modes of transmission
for HIV infection.
19. What is HIV and AIDS? What are the risk factors for developing HIV infection?
20. What are the ways to prevent HIV infection? Describe how prevention will be done.
(You might need to describe any 2/3 preventive measures, so be prepared to
discuss all 7 ways.)
