How To Tune Your Violin

Firstly, download an app called ‘Tuner Lite’ by Piascore (iPhone users)

or ‘Guitar and Violin Tuner’ by A4Tune Labs (Android users). This will
help with fine-tuning the instrument.
Tune the violin by starting with the A string. If the note is:
Sharp (the needle moves to the left or the letters change to B,C
and so on) → Turn the adjusters clockwise (left) to flatten
Flat (the needle moves to the right or the letters change to G, F
and so on) → Turn the adjusters right (anticlockwise) to sharpen
If the violin is badly out of tune, turn the pegs up to sharpen and
down to flatten the notes, then use the adjusters to fine tune.

Advanced Tuning
Once the A string is in tune, play the A and D strings at the same
time and listen for the perfect 5th interval.
The play D with G and A with E.
Play open strings whilst turning
the adjuster or peg
