In order to conduct this research, a 10 item test containing the Arabic definite articles is used. The
main aim of this paper is to investigate the applicability of some methods put forward d by early
Arab grammarians to create and introduce new Arabic terms in order to cope with the modern
terminologies which are being created almost every day. It is faced with practical and theoretical
difficulties. The types of semantic change that were found active in this study included narrowing,

Based on a selective body of authentic translation examples, the study demonstrates how implicit
meaning as encapsulated in several pragmatic phenomena including presuppositions, speech acts,
conversational implicatures, and politeness can seriously affect the quality of the translation product.
Unlike translations of modern fiction, drama, and poetry, the rendering of this ancient classic into
Arabic had a limited scope in developing new means of linguistic expression in Arabic, or
establishing new literary models. Somehow, it so happens that the exact transformation of one
language into another is really a hard nut to crack. The job of translator is already an invisible and
thankless one, and the criticism of the so called moralists applies more bars on the profession. (Leech,
2005) Another hurdle on the way to making translation for the Arab children includes the presence
of the material based upon Christian, Jewish, Hindu and other rival faiths. In this regard, the study
demonstrates the pertinence of pragmatics theories for translators' work by providing authentic
examples of translation between Arabic, and English languages. To relay communication across the

in this process was the integration of the Arabic literary heritage into a world order of literature

Introduction The demand on translation as a means of multilingual communication is growing
steadily in our world, and skilled translators are far more needed today than ever before. Both a
qualitative and a quantitative approach were adopted. Arab universities hopefully will follow suit in
embracing the change and training competent translators who are able to produce intelligible
translations readily acceptable for the user. This intellectual transformational process of meanings is a
process of simplification of meanings which leads to conveying the message to the mind of reader. It
is fact beyond suspicion that the Arabs do not allow the penetration of the non Islamic teachings in

Translation from English to Arabic or vice versa creates a number of problems because these two
