1 Parameters Setting
The parameters are set through the HMI panel, for various systems and for
different conditions within the systems.

1.1 Setting List

In order to access the setting list at any time during the operation process, tap
parameter tabs on HMI.

It is possible to change parameters with three different actions:

1. Using the drop-down menu

2. Enabling the toggle button

3. Writing the requested value in the right side window

200001440-1-EN-GB 5
EN 1 Parameters Setting

In this case, by tapping on the parameter name, two display methods can be
activated.

The button allows showing the set parameter value.

The button shows the minimum and maximum parameter values.

The parameters are initially set during installation.

However, some parameters can also be easily set, as required, during
operation.

NOTE
The parameters are split into five protection levels as follows:
1. — Level 0: No password required
2. — Level 1: Operator
3. — Level 2: Advanced Operator
4. — Level 3: AL Service Engineer (ALSE)
5. — Level 4: AL Engineer (ALE)

Parameters are enabled or disabled on the display according to the protection

level login.

Parameters Setting 1 EN

In order to enable parameters, carry out the login with the specific password
protection level.

See Operating Instructions booklet for Operator and Advanced Operator

passwords.

NOTE
Alfa Laval protected parameters can only be changed by Alfa Laval
factory or by an Alfa Laval Field Service Engineer.

2 Additional Parameter Information

P0 Customer control and monitoring type.
Remote control type For further information see chapter 3 (paragraph 3.6) in Installation Sys-
tem Reference book.
P4 Set the configuration for programmable alarms feedback to customer.
Programmable Alarms Output Normally closed (NC): contact opens at alarm.
Type
Normally open (NO): contact closes at alarm.

NOTE
The parameter does not affect Common Alarm that is always set as
Normally Closed (Opens at alarm).

P13-56 Each parameter can be set according to the customer requirements.

Programmable I/O The same variable can be set to more than one parameter.
See paragraph 3 for the complete list.

NOTE
Parameters are always available; before to set up an input/output
variable, check the availability of relative PLC Module.

P66-P67-P68-P69 Modbus RTU Configuration for communication with customer.

Modbus configuration These parameters are only enabled if P2 is set to Modbus
RTU or Modbus Dual RTU.
P103 Set action required when power supply returns after a power
failure.
Power failure action
If automatic restart is selected (“Alarm, Start”), the EPC will
start the supply pump, circulation pump, and heater with P103
second intervals after the power has been restored.
P203 If “Standard” is selected, the changeover valve run time is set
by parameters.
Changeover type
See Operating Instructions booklet for changeover procedure.
If “Viscosity Control” is selected, PLC controls changeover
valves movement in order to respect the viscosity ramp during
the changeover process (Reserved/Not in use).

EN 2 Additional Parameter Information

P205-206-209-210-213-214 These parameters set the valves changeover time when elec-
tric changeover valve have been installed and standard
Changeover valve time to another fuel changeover type has been selected.
Set the changeover time as required to have a smooth
changeover; the right time is function of temperature ramp, fuel
consumption and total fuel volume and may vary for each in-
stallation and running conditions.
As general rule, valves time can be changed as below.
Changeover from HFO to MGO:
• If viscosity increases too much, reduce valve time.
• If viscosity decreases too much, increase valve time.
Changeover from MGO to HFO:
• If viscosity increases too much, increase valve time.
• If viscosity decreases too much, decrease valve time.
See Operating Instructions booklet for further details about the
changeover procedure.
P207-211-215-920-930-940-950 These factory set installation parameters set the minimum time
required by the valve to completely move.
Run time
Run time is used to calculate the right waiting time between
one pulse and the other to respect the changeover time.
P220-P235-P250-P265-P320 These string parameters are used to name each fuel. Maxi-
Fuel ID Name mum 7 alphanumeric characters can be used.

P221-236-251-266-321 These parameters are used by the system to detect if the fuel
is a light or a heavy fuel:
Reference temperature for base viscosity
• 40 °C: light fuel
• 50 °C: heavy fuel
A wrong setup of this parameter can affect temperature com-
pensation for density and, as consequence, viscosity measure-
ment.
P226-P241-P256-P271 Set the value of these parameters according to fuel oil analysis
to compensate the density’s influence on the viscosity meas-
Fuel density urements.

NOTE
Wrong setting of density parameter may cause inaccurate viscosity
measurement.
Kinematic viscosity (cSt) is directly measured only using EVT30D,
Viscomaster or HFVM-B sensors.
If EVT 30, Viscomaster Dynamic or HFVM-R sensors have been
installed, kinematic viscosity (cSt) is a ratio between dynamic
viscosity (cP) and density (kg/m3).

Additional Parameter Information 2 EN

P231-P246-P261-P276 When the system is set in temperature control mode, these parameters
are used as target temperature.
Temperature set point value
• Set parameters value to the required injection temperature.
When the system is set in viscosity control mode, the temperature set
point value is used as final temperature for the temperature ramp.
• Set these parameters according to the fuel oil chart value for set vis-
cosity to make sure that the temperature ramp is correctly handled.

NOTE
Wrong temperature set point may generate alarms when viscosity
control is used.

P229-230-244-245-259-260-274-275-329-330 Viscosity limits for each fuel are meaned as viscosity difference
with set point.
Fuel Viscosity limits
The absolute viscosity for the limits is to be intended as Vis-
cosity set point ± viscosity limits.
For example:
• P228 Fuel 1 Viscosity set point is 12cSt.
• P229 Fuel 1 Viscosity high limit is +5°C that means 17cSt
as absolute value.
• P230 Fuel 1 Viscosity Low limit is -5°C that means 7cSt as
absolute value.

P232-233-247-248-262-263-277-278-332-333 Temperature limits for each fuel are expressed as temperature

difference with set point.
Fuel Temperature limits
The absolute temperature for the limits is to be intended as
Temperature set point ± temperature limits.
For example:
• P231 Fuel 1 temperature set point is 140°C.
• P232 Fuel 1 Temperature high limit is +5°C that means
145°C as absolute value.
• P233 Fuel 1 Temperature Low limit is -5°C that means
135°C as absolute value.

Blending parameters ation.

P401-P501 Select which pump should be in operation mode and which

pumps in operation pump should be in stand-by mode.

NOTE
When the stand-by pump has been started due to a fault condition,
the operating pump will be locked and the parameter automatically
will change in order to disable the pump. The faulty pump will be red
highlighted on HMI screen; when the pump will be ok, put the
parameter back to enable the pump as stand-by pump (thus No 1
running, No 2 stand-by).

tween actual temperature and set point temperature is bigger than
the value set in P912 and longer than the value set in P913, PLC

Use ‘Other’ for alternative suppliers; it can handle only viscosity
output configured by parameters P1003, P1004 and P1005.

4 Dynamic I/O Configuration

During first start-up after software installation, the system performs a Dynamic
I/O configuration to recognize and setup installed PLC modules.
Dynamic I/O Configuration is a mixed auto detection and parameter based
process: the system is able to recognize the installed modules but, in order to
properly assign the correct function to each module, several parameters are
used.
The following parameters are relevant for Dynamic I/O Configuration:

ard allows the operator to configure all the relevant
parameters.

that are relevant for machine hardware configuration; other
parameters must be set for complete system configuration and

During Dynamic I/O configuration process, PLC is not able to control
the system: if required, use manual operation.

NOTE
Dynamic I/O configuration may take several minutes.
At least a PLC reboot will be performed during the process.
