PLEASE SAVE THE EARTH

In recent decades, in addition to basic problems like preventing a nuclear war,
preserving peace, and lowering population growth rates, environmental protection has become
a global issue and has vital importance to humanity on earth.

Protecting the living environment is a burning global issue that the entire community
on earth is joining hands to improve. The recession of the ozone layer increases the risk of
skin cancer, and eye diseases and can reduce human immunity. Animals and plants are also
affected; some are destroyed or on the verge of extinction.

The world’s ecological crisis is happening at a serious level, and the resources are
being depleted rapidly. Environmental pollution is spreading widely and becoming a threat to
human existence.

In the last 5 years, environmental issues have received more attention than before.
Nevertheless, the proportion of toxic gases in the atmosphere continues to increase; the
deforestation rate is alarming; one-third of the world’s population still suffers from water
shortages, if there are no new measures to manage underground water resources. the world
will fall into a water crisis in 2050; seafood is being overexploited, and desertification is still
at a serious level in Africa.

The causes of environmental degradation are because of rapid industrial development,

deforestation is seriously increasing, an imbalance between resources and population, and the
increase in the arms race.

Pollution and environmental degradation occur in any country or region, from

underdeveloped countries to advanced industrial countries. Environmental pollution is not
limited to national borders; deforestation in these countries might lead to floods and droughts
in other countries. This is a global issue, so no individual, no single country can handle it on
its own. General coordination through a global strategy is strongly needed.

Vietnam is facing serious ecological challenges as well. Land, forests, water, animals,
and plants are overexploited, making rare resources become increasingly depleted. The
current area of degraded land and bare hills in our country has reached 13 million hectares
(39% of the area), of which 1,2 million hectares have loss of farming ability.

Over the past 50 years, the forest area has decreased by 6 million hectares, the
coverage coverage is 26%. Currently, in some industrial areas, the concentration of dust and
toxic emissions has exceeded allowable levels many times because most factories still use
outdated technology and old equipment.

Facing that situation, the Party and State of Vietnam have taken positive actions to
protect the ecological environment and ensure a healthy life for the residents.
Vietnam needs to take lessons from industrialized countries and have specific plans to
prevent and limit pollution in the future. Mineral exploitation needs to be well organized and
managed to avoid wasting resources and negatively affecting environmental resources.

Therefore, it is necessary to build a system of legal documents as a basis for enforcing

standards on discharge, pollution control, and handling violations. While planning urban
areas, proper attention should be paid to the arrangement of factories, residential clusters,
entertainment areas, green areas, drainage systems, solid waste dumps, waste treatment plants,
and toxic waste incinerators

Environmental protection is a matter of common concern for everyone, every home,

every country, and even humanity, with a sense of responsibility: let's save the earth, save our
cradle.
