I’m Amy and welcome to Hana Hana Hangul on KoreanClass101.com - The fastest,
easiest, and most fun way to learn Hangul, the Korean alphabet.

In the last lesson, we began looking at vowels that combined horizontal and vertical
strokes, and we learned four of them. In this lesson, we will finish up the double vowels
-- and the Hangul! -- with just three more sounds.

ㅜ(u) and ㅣ(i) together make ㅟ(wi).

ㅜ, ㅣ. ㅜ, ㅣ. ㅟ.

위 means up. 위

By the way, the opposite of 위 is 아래 -- down. 아래

뒤 means back. 뒤

And the opposite of 뒤 is 앞 -- front. 앞

ㅜ(u) and ㅓ(eo) together make ㅝ(wo).

ㅜ, ㅓ. ㅜ, ㅓ. ㅝ.

Here are a few phrases that you will get a lot of use out of in Korean.

고마워요. means Thank you. 고마워요.

And 뭐예요? means What is it. 뭐예요?

And the last double vowel is this:

ㅜ(u) and ㅔ(e) together make ㅞ(we).

Here are a few words that originally come from English. 웨이터 means “waiter” 웨이터

And 웨딩 means “wedding.” 웨딩
