Task one
Setting up your VM.

This will help you to have a VM to work on for the exercises.

Download VMware Workstation Pro - VMware Customer Connect
After you have installed your VM you will need to also install the Windows Server your first node
or VM.

Task two

Configuring and setting up your Windows server as a Domain Controller after successful
installation

After installing your windows server you will need to set it up as you domain controller by adding
the role of AD DS or Active Directory Domain Services and give it your desired domain name.

Once you add the AD DS role on your first node you can create user accounts, groups and
service accounts for this and other registered nodes on your Domain Controller

Configure your IP Address to change your IP configuration to a Static one. Static IP addresses
are also sometimes referred to as fixed IP addresses or dedicated IP addresses.

Task three

Creating your second node and installing SQL Server on this node

Proceed to create your second node using the methods of your first node without adding the
AD DS on this node.

Configure your IP Address to change your IP configuration to a Static one. Static IP addresses
are also sometimes referred to as fixed IP addresses or dedicated IP addresses. You need to
use a unique IP address for your second node. You can just add one more number from the IP
address that you used for your Domain Controller.

I.e please use the IP address from your Domain Controller as your preferred DNS.

Example 192.178.10.156 , 192.178.10.157

After setting up your static IP address you need to register this node on your Domain Controller.

SQL Server 2019 Cluster - 4 : Adding nodes to Domain

After installing Windows Server on your second node example : BAROSQLNODE1, you will
proceed to create five dedicated drives for your SQL Server installation. mdf, ldf, tempdb,
backup and audit. Using this example video create the listed driver on your VM.

12. Hard Disk Partition Management How to Create, Resize, Delete, Extend, Shrink

After successfully setting up your dedicated drives, you will need to install SQL Server 2014 on
this node. You can do it using your browser from the node or you can create a shared folder for
your local computer and link the node to install your SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition.

First download your SQL Server 2014 Developer edition SP3

After downloading the SQL Server please proceed and install on your dedicated node using the
best practice method.

Proceed also to install SSMS or SQL Server Management Studio.

 Task Four

Proceed to create your third node using the methods of your first node without adding the AD
