Writing & Submitting Your Article On MindBodyBliss

Our fabulous blogging platform lets you easily write and submit your article. Say hello to
MindBodyBliss, the blog hub for all your mental health knowledge to reach the rest of the
world.

Step 1: Log in to MindBodyBliss

First up, go to https://mindbodybliss.in/welcome/ with your phone number. You’ll receive an
OTP with which you can log into your dashboard.
Step 2: Update Your Profile Information

👀
This is an important first step if you want your name and image to be shown with your article
once published. Unlike what’s shown in the example , remember to add an appropriate
and professional-looking profile picture of yourself so the audience can identify the brains
behind the articles they read!

Step 3: Go Through All The Features, Once Confident, Start Writing!

1. You can add the Main Heading/Title of your blog at the top, beside ‘New Story’. For
subheadings, when you click on “ ”, a wide array of commands opens in the
drop-down menu, select heading and then click Enter. This would add space for your
heading. Then click on the braille symbol (the 6 dots), and you’ll be able to see
“heading 2”, “heading 3”, etc. You can choose the type of subheading you want to
add and click enter. Proceed to give the section a suitable and catchy subheading,
press enter and then add your paragraph.
Select the Category of your article, as well as a Tag for it.

2. If you want to add a checklist or a list, click on the command and proceed to do so.
For tables, be sure to add appropriate headings and organise the table.

3. When you highlight a text, you can make it bold, italicise, add hyperlinks, and
change its font. In your conclusion, be sure to add a CTA asking the audience to
reach out to a mental health professional at Heart It Out and hyperlink “Heart It Out”
or “mental health professional” to Heart It Out’s website.
4. For quotes, click on the “Quote” command and add the quote itself in the first box
and the author in the second box below where it says “Enter a caption”. Once done,
proceed to write the rest of your article; the quote will come together once published.

5. If you want to add images (and you are required to add at least three),

Step 4: Submit Your Article After Reviewing It

Once you have completed your article, review it thoroughly, and then click “Publish” on the
top right corner of the window.
When you click on “My Stories”, you’ll be able to view your article submission there. Your
article will then be reviewed by Brencia and will be published shortly after.

P.S. Once you submit your article, you cannot make changes to it. To avoid mishaps, write
your content on a personal document and copy-paste it onto the editing page so you
won’t miss out on any important information. Before you submit your article, check all the
information, format, and hyperlinks, then click submit.

If you want to make major changes to your article, please inform Brencia that you’ll be
submitting a fresh article. You can then work on a new one and submit it.

Step 5: Spread The Good News!

Once your article is published, you’ll be able to find it here: https://mindbodybliss.in/ . Please
be on the lookout for your article. A link to your article may also be found on the sheet. Once
you have your link, share it with your friends, family members, neighbours, second cousins,
pets, and every single living being you know and care about. Your article needs to garner
🏆
good views as part of its performance. The more views your article gets, the better it
performs; that counts towards your final score!

The Rules Of Writing For Mental Health

1) Choose your words carefully.

Not preferred: She is schizophrenic.
Preferred: She is a person with schizophrenia.

2) Don’t use words that stigmatise mental health.

Not preferred: She can be such a psycho sometimes.
Preferred: She can get furious sometimes.

3) Always try to use neutral language.

Not preferred: Ron is battling depression.
Preferred: Ron has been diagnosed with depression.

4) Do not trivialise real disorders.

For instance, we all feel sad at times as humans. However, depression is a serious
concern. One should not use the term “depression” to refer to their low mood, as it
undermines the gravity of the term.

5) Be sensitive and use trigger warnings when writing about suicide and other
sensitive topics.
Avoid the stigma and focus on prevention. Use respectful, neutral, and factual
language only.

6) Always include links to our website and relevant mental health resources.

General Guidelines
1) Use UK grammar only (especially for spellings).
The Grammarly app/Google Chrome extension has a setting that can be changed to
UK English.

2) When mentioning the company’s name, use “Heart It Out” — Not Heart it out / Heart
it Out / HIO/HiO or any other variation.

3) Headings and subheadings should always be First Letter Title Case.

For example, Ten Symptoms of Depression That You Shouldn’t Ignore

4) Proper nouns should always be capitalised.

These include names, places, organisations, languages, subjects, or events.

(For example, Nithya, Bangalore, Heart It Out, English, Psychology, or Peer

Supervision, respectively.)

When in doubt, google and check how the term is used in a sentence.
Still in doubt? You can highlight the phrase and tag Brencia in the comments.

5) Always double-check facts and spellings of proper nouns. Add reference links at
the end of the document. Ensure that these links contain verified content that is
appropriate and factually correct.

6) Avoid writing long sentences.

It packs a lot of information at once, confusing the reader.
Keep an 8-10 word rule for every sentence. This is not a hard and fast rule.
However, following this rule while writing will help keep your sentences short.
Remember the words: crisp and precise, when structuring any sentence.

7) Do not repeat words in the same sentence.

This includes and, but, and other conjunctions.

8) 500 (minimum) — 800 (maximum) words.

9) It needs to be informative and engaging.

10) Do the required research from verified sources.

11) No plagiarism. Create a free account on the following sites: Quetext and Copyleaks
and ensure that the content you have submitted is free of plagiarism.

12) Divide information into short paragraphs.

13) Include sub-headings to categorise the information.

14) Mention and hyperlink appropriate services provided by Heart It Out. (For
instance, Help A Friend, Buddy Circle, or our team of skilled therapists, events,
relevant blog articles, or website pages.)

Language And Tone

Be as fun, informative, and interesting as possible, but always be in grammar’s company.

1) Inclusive language. (Sportspeople instead of sportsmen, Humans or people

instead of guys or bro)

2) Use simple words and an informal tone.

3) Avoid SMS lingo unless absolutely necessary/appropriate.

If we are using SMS lingo to add joviality to a particular piece of content, then stick to
the correct abbreviations.

(For example, LOL instead of lolllll, or OMG instead of omgggg!)

4) Remember to use Heart It Out’s language wherever possible.

Eg. “Hello, Humans!”, “We Heart You!” “Hello, Human Beans”, “Hello, Lovely
People!”, “Hello, Beautiful Humans”, “Hello, Lovely Souls!”

5) Make sure sensitive issues are treated carefully after thorough research. Should
there arise questions, please reach out to Brencia or the person you are working on
the task with directly.

6) Your tone must sound inspirational, knowledgeable, and warm. You want to sound
like that one friend who has experienced life and wants to share with you all the
insight they have.
