Filipinos believe in themselves that they are Filipinos, but they didn’t
know how the real Filipinos really look and what are the qualifications to
be a real Filipino. Filipinos have many respectable values, some people
didn’t know about it. Filipino culture is the one we will treasure as long
as we live. I want you to recall some of the Filipino values that a real
Filipino must have. All of us are deeply rooted in faith. We are so
conscious of God’s presence steeped in Christian values, ethics and
morals. When we have our own problems in life, we just pray to Him
solemnly and believe in Him always. If we are with him, nothing is
impossible. You see, we Filipinos have a strong faith that no one can
even destroy it. They devote time to reconnect with God. They have
strong faith, believing that problems and adversities in life will surpass
with the help and providence of God. Filipinos are also hospitable.
Hospitality is one of the values that tourists from around the world
notice first every time they visit the Philippines. Filipinos took great care
of their guests, making sure that they're comfortable and happy in their
stay. Filipinos are very kind to the visitors even in our simple homes.
They are offering all that they can have to satisfy their visitors. Filipinos
are also family oriented. They value greatly their families, which is
always on top of their priorities. They say that a family that eats
together stays together. It means that Filipino families cannot be
separated by any means because they love each other and their family
is their first priority. Filipinos are also happy people, always smiling and
never forget to have a good laugh amidst the problems and hardships
that come their ways. Even when in calamities or problems, they are
smiling because Filipinos believe that they will overcome their
problems. Filipinos also have the will to help each other. This is used to
called bayanihan. Filipinos are cooperating with each other to
overcome any problem...

...Philippine Values “Beliefs, behavior and material objects that constitute people’s way

behavior are good or bad, desirable or undesirable. Qualities of Values Everyone has
their own values. And values in every individual differ from each other. It is formed in
every moment in time. Values is shown and practiced without being noticed. To know
more about values you must learn its qualities. Below are the qualities
of values according to Robin Williams to help you to understand how
important value is. According to Robin Williams: “What are experienced by individuals
as values have these qualities: (1) They have a conceptual element-they are more
than pure sensations, emotions, reflexes, or so-called needs. Values are abstractions
drawn from the flux of the individual's immediate experience. (2) They are affectively
charged: they represent actual or potential emotional mobilization. (3) Values are not
the concrete goals of action, but rather the criteria by which goals are
chosen. (4) Values are important, not "trivial" or of slight concern.” These qualities
came from this meaning: “Values have a conceptual element that are affectively
charged but are not the concrete...

... THE PREVAILING CULTURAL VALUES I. Introduction Today we live in a world that
is somehow smaller than it is used to be. New communication technology (e.g. email
and the WWW) has made it easier to a certain extent to cross previous boundaries and
communicate across time and space. However, the new technology does not
necessarily make it easier to collaborate and communicate intercultural. To effectively
collaborate and communicate we have to share meanings. This often requires that we
understand cultural valuesand share cultural information. Culture has been studied and
defined in many ways by multiple scholars representing various disciplines. Adler (1997,
15) has synthesized many definitions of culture. She says that culture is something that
is shared by all or almost all members of some social group. · Something that the older
members of the group try to pass on to the younger members. · Something (as in the
case of morals, laws and customs) that shapes behavior, or... structures one's
perception of the world. Cultural values, at the simplest level, are commonly shared
concepts about what is right, wrong, possible or impossible, true or false and so on.
From there, it gets complicated. The arena of cultural values can be as small as each
individual's personal set of decisions as to what is acceptable or not. The individual can
be firmly set in deciding that existing cultural...

Values Essay
...Values In different region of the world people have different beliefs that guide and
shape the way they live their life. A value is an important and life lasting beliefs or ideals
shared by people of the same culture about what is good or bad, and what is desirable
or undesirable. What may seem valuable to one person may not be the same as to the
next person, cultures differ in many ways and those values that shapes our culture is
also the root of our lifestyle. Throughout our lives we will encounter people with different
backgrounds: race, origin, culture, and values that are different from ours. As we
interact with each other, we’ll come to find out that one might value something that
doesn’t seem to interest you. In the U.S it’s a big deal for a teenager to get their drivers
license once turning 16 years of age and owning a car, this is something that
Americans value greatly because it shows independent and freedom, Independent from
taking the bus, asking for a lift, or taking a taxi. It is also a sign of freedom because now
they can go wherever they want to go, when they want to go, what time they want to go
without worrying about being stranded. Unlike most third world countries in Africa where
people worry about surviving each day because they don’t have all the luxury that is at
disposal to people living in U.S. owning a car is probably the...

To keep the Philippines from growing and developing. I as a Filipino, I personally find that
our culture and tradition practices is one factor why our country has been falling behind. Yes
we are the best English speaking country in Southeast Asia, other than that what else? China
is winning the West Philippine Sea and yet, the president decided to take actions first of the
Canadian trash that has been sitting in the country before he was elected as the president
and also had the guts to declare the war against Canada. What a careless word. What if
Canada agreed that call? Though, there was no reason to but just imagine… He must have
been blaming the customs from the previous administration first on Why that damn
garbage got in to the country. Anyways, that’s just a first reactions to the mentioned events.

Firstly, by changing the law and maintain or improve it for longer term, Second, implement
the law and inform the public, Third, is to educate the young ones like values, importance
why we should preserve it, and to inform them that they will continue these culture
preservation.
Why we should preserve it? But before we should preserve it we should separate the good
and the bad culture of the Filipinos. The good ones must be preserve! The main reason why
we should preserve it, because it characterized us a truly Filipinos and also to show to the
others(country) that this is really who we are before the technology came to this world. And
maybe we can influence them in a good way.

Before anyone screams, I am not Filipino, just some foreigner, I will say I am married to a
Filipina, our kids will be Filipino, and likely grow up right here in Davao City.
Those are the wrong questions to be asking. The right question is, “In what way can Filipino
traditions be preserved while building a better future for the average Filipino?”
The problem Filipinos face are many and mostly it is cultural. Only 95% of those old enough
to start kindergarten ever do. Less than a third of those who start kindergarten graduate
high school, and 1/3 of those drop outs do so without finishing the sixth grade. Less than
half of those that graduate high school go on to university, and only half those that start
university ever graduate from it. The impediments here are mostly financial caused by the
negative impact of cultural habits.
My kids won’t face these problems, but too many of their cousins, kin and friends will and
that does matter to me. So in what what can traditions be preserved and the culture
honored? I think the first step is admitting when these traditions are what is holding the
country and the people back.
