READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND FOLLOW EACH STEP.

You are working with the local government in your area to build or renovate a new community
sports facility. Funding has been secured up to USD 1 million, from a grant from a corporate
company. You have been tasked with deciding what type of facility and surface to start working
on. You will also purchase some eco-friendly sports equipment and/or clothing.

YOU WILL POST YOUR WORK IN THE DISCUSSION FORUM FOR YOUR RELEVANT
CAMPUS i.e there will be a Mona forum, STA forum, and OC forum.

1. Choose ONE sport of your choice to work on, it can be an indoor or outdoor sport
2. Choose a surface/court etc for that sport, and give the following information:
● Type of surface e.g clay court for tennis
● Whether it is indoors or outdoors
● Advantages and disadvantages of that type of surface, why you have selected it
for your community
● Dimensions and specifics of the surface e.g. size, materials it is made of
● How to care and maintain it
● Include any relevant adaptive athlete- friendly features or items so persons with
disabilities can also participate e.g. sound tennis balls for visually impaired
persons
● Provide a link to a YouTube video or a web article with a picture of this type of
surface
● DO NOT include instrumentation in this section - see below in no. 4
● 20 MARKS
3. For the same sport you have chosen, select TWO eco-friendly pieces of gear and/or
clothing that you will purchase for community members. E.g. bamboo jerseys and
sneakers made from ocean plastic. (Any clothing items will become the personal
property of the people they are given to. Any gear will be the property of the community)
● You must give an actual brand and model that exists on the market currently, as
well as the current retail price in USD.
● Provide links to the items’ websites
● 5 MARKS
4. You are to make ONE post on another students’ work.
● So a Mona student will make ONE comment on one STA or OC student’s work.
● STA students will make ONE comment on a Mona student or OC student’s work.
● OC students will make ONE comment on a Mona or STA student’s work.
● Do not comment on the same sport as yours.
● Your post should state what ONE instrumented technology you would add to
that person’s surface or sport. E.g. “I would install Hawkeye technology for the
tennis court.” Give a brief explanation of what this instrumentation does, and why
you think it would be beneficial.
● The instrumentation can be for the surface, facility, sporting equipment, clothing,
or athlete.
