Chinoiserie Furniture and other Interior Accessories

Furniture in the Chinese style was famous for its surface
decorations and frequently decorated with ebony and ivory,
brass hardware, Chinese lacquer and faux bamboo. Chinese
fretwork could be seen in chairs, tables and cabinets.
The material palette is a celebration of the Feng Shui principles
that are created for prayer and meditation halls in order to instil
elements of nature. Mirrored panels that relate to the
reflectivity of water, and dominating red shears address the
excitement and energy of fire, whereas noble grey flooring,
brass bells and dark wood furniture render the earthiness of the
place.
The team settled on a scheme based on Shanghai in the 1920s,
where the arts movement merged with traditional Chinese
motifs to create a hybrid style. Shades of gray and red are found
throughout the restaurant as a nod to this era, on the leather-
upholstered banquettes, wall panels and metal mirrors
