Name: MERU ANUSHREE ASHWINKUMAR
Date: 29 July 2023
Session ID: session-2364988f-f415-38bf-1df6-5bbae95bc2a7

Pre-lab Quiz Results

You scored 100% by answering 4 out of 4 questions correctly.

1 When two antigens are identical their precipitin lines form

You correctly answered: an arc.

2 Antigen and antibody move toward each other because of

You correctly answered: diffusion.

3 If two antigens form a spur, they

You correctly answered: have partial identity.

4 The Ouchterlony test relies on the formation of a(n)

You correctly answered: precipitate.

Predict Question
1 Predict Question: How do you think human serum albumin and bovine serum albumin
will compare?

Your answer: They will have partial identity.

Stop & Think Question

1 Which of the following best describes the two solutions you just added to well 1?

You correctly answered: They are both antibodies produced by a goat.

Experiment Data
Wells Identity
2 and 5 Partial
2 and 3 Identity
3 and 4 Partial
4 and 5 Identity

Post-lab Quiz Results

You scored 100% by answering 4 out of 4 questions correctly.

1 There is a spur between wells 2 and 5 and between wells 3 and 4 because the

You correctly answered: antigens have partial identity.

2 What is the unknown antigen in well 5 (recall that well 2 contains bovine serum
albumin and well 4 contains human serum albumin)?

You correctly answered: human serum albumin.

3 Which of the following best describes this test?

You correctly answered: Antibodies are used to detect the presence of antigens.

4 The antigen-antibody precipitate forms where the ratio of antigen and antibody is

You correctly answered: optimum.

Review Sheet Results

1 Describe how you were able to determine what antigen is in the unknown well.
Your answer:

Wells 4 and 5 were identical with their results. Human serum albumin was in well 4,
therefore if they were if their results were the identical then human serum albumin
must have been in the unknown well.

2 Why does the precipitin line form?

Your answer:

The precipitin line forms when the antigens and antibodies are proportional to each
other.

3 Did you think human serum albumin and bovine serum albumin would have epitopes
in common? How well did the results compare with your prediction?

Your answer:

I predicted that human serum albumin and bovine serum albumin would have partial
identity. In the experiment it is proven because of the spur formed. Therefore showing
they
have epitopes in common.
