Enrique VIII

Enrique VIII was the King of England and the Lord of


Ireland from April 22, 1509 until his death. He got
married 6 times.He enacted some important legislations,
such as the various separation acts with the Church of
Rome, from his designation as supreme head of the
Church of England, The Union Acts of 1535 and 1542,
which unified England and Wales as a single nation, the
Buggery Act of 1533, the first legislation against sodomy
in England and the Witchcraft Act of 1542, which
punished witchcraft with the death penalty. Enrique VIII
married Catherine in Greenwich, on June 11, 1509,
leaving aside the advice of Pope Julius II and William
Warham. Fernando abandoned the alliance, and the other
parts made peace with France. The consequences were
profound: royal power was strengthened, and the wealth
obtained favored an incipient industrialization and the
development of the English navy, the basis of a future
military and commercial power that would manifest itself
in the Elizabethan era, that is, in the reign Elizabeth I of
England.
The first of the 6 wifes that has got Enrique was Catalina
de Aragon. England's alliance with the Spanish imperial,
papal, ecclesiastical world went bankrupt with Catherine's
divorce in 1533 through an Act of Parliament.
The second wife was Ana Bolena. Ana Bolena gave birth
to who became Queen Elizabeth I, later, one of the most
important monarchs in England.
The third wife was Juana Seymour. She was the mother of
a boy who later would become the King Edward VI. The
delivery was complicated and caused serious damage.
The fourth wife was Ana de Cleves. In June he was
ordered to leave the court and in July he was asked for
consent for the annulment of the marriage.
The fifth wife was Catalina Howard. It was the Ana Bolena
´s cousin. She was locked up in Middlesex Abbey and was
finally transferred to the Tower of London to be executed
on February 13, 1542.
The sixth and the last wife was Catalina Parr. Ella fue la
