INTRODUCTION
• Muscles that pulls against the gravity to maintain a normal posture especially
upright is called as ANTIGRAVITY MUSCLES. In most mammals and bipeds,
they are extensor muscles.
• Many antigravity muscle have a high proportion of slow twitch muscle fibres
and are called as TONIC MUSCLES.
• Antigravity muscles are also called as SLEEPING MUSCLES go through the
entire human body in the form of thin whitish fibres and they act as strings in
the body.
ROLE OF ANTIGRAVITY MUSCLES
• Leg or arm cramps in a person is due to the antigravity muscle as pathology.
Such spasmodic stress occurs in the body and various other organs.
• Antigravity muscles have three main functions:
✓Maintenance of body shape
✓Movement speed formation
✓Exactness of body reactions
EXPERIMENT BY ALEXANDER DITYATIN

❖Antigravity muscles capability was

shown by the Soviet Athlete
ALEXANDER DITYATIN,
in Moscow at 1980 in the Olympic
games an exercise called “CROSS”.
❖Where he was hanging on the hands
extended to the sides which is not
possible by normal training.
❖This was due to when the athlete was
exposed to the antigravity ,muscles
developed by ELECTRIC STIMULI.
CAROLYN RICHARDSON
➢Gravity fit exercise :was developed by
the world renowned professor of
physiotherapy CAROLYN RICHARDSON
➢She has been the forefront of musculo-
skeleton research over 20 years
➢Her work involves the study of zero
gravity muscles dealing with sports
➢She introduced the concept of core
stability
HER THOUGHTS
• She found that in addition of simple
exercise plan that promotes healthy
joints and bones and deals with the
force gravity on the body and can
complement cardiovascular system
exercises and decreases the risk of pain
and disability associated with ageing.
• This thought of hers was not an over-
night revolution , but the products of
extensive research into how the human
body works and how its muscle system
respond to and deal with environment
and life style changes .
EXAMPLES OF ANTIGRAVITY MUSCLES

GLUTES MAXIMUS
oGluteus maximus is the
largest muscle in the human
body.
oIts job is to maintain the
upright posture of the trunk.
oIt is the chief antigravity
muscles.
oIt is used in the aids of
walking up in stairs and keep
are body upright.
ANTIGRAVITY MUSCLES IN SPORTS
❖In MARTIAL ARTS while training at the first the attention goes to the the
development of the ANTIGRAVITY MUSCLES.
❖Otherwise the blow will destruct the antigravity muscles.
ANTIGRAVITY MUSCLES IN ASTRONAUTS

✓Due to the absence of gravity on the space, the

astronauts floats and the muscles undergo little
contraction so that they can move around
✓And they also undergo a loss in mass of the muscle
which corresponds to the loss of strength of
muscles.
✓To reduce this muscle atrophy astronauts must
undergo intensive exercise particularly strength
training exercise.
✓In order to reduce the amount of time spending in
exercise, electrical muscle stimulation is used to
maintain the muscle strength and mass.
BENEFITS OF ANTIGRAVITY MUSCLES

▪ Injury is also less likely to occur when we

start activate the antigravity muscles.
▪ Functions better, less back, neck joint and
muscle pain
▪ Our now sedentary life style is making us
sit in front of the computers this makes the
antigravity muscles weak, dormant and
inactive.
▪ So we must take some serious address to
develop the antigravity muscles.
DEVELOPMENT OF ANTIGRAVITY MUSCLES

❖By doing exercise

like :
oPush ups
oDo more squats
oLeg presses
oStretches
oCrunches
CONCLUSIONS
✓Antigravity muscles are the ones we see slowly attacking us by dragging
some of our muscles that support the posture towards the ground
✓This all starts happen in early 20’s our midsections ,our thoracic and lumbar
start to become less upright and our cervical sections of our spine making
our head move further forward.
✓So we all end up in
saggy tummies and
back.
✓In old age ,The death
of the person starts by
antigravity muscles:
✓The person slouches
deflects its body shape,
which leads to a chain
of pathologies and
death.
• some exercise are necessary to develop the
antigravity muscles.
• And also to prevent the death in future days , due
to the pain or stress in antigravity muscles.
• So start developing the antigravity muscles.
