FOURTH QUARTER – WEEK 5

LESSON 2: FORMULATING RESEARCH QUESTIONS

ACTIVITY 3
Determine if the following can be considered as good research question. Explain why or why not?
1. What is happiness?

This is not a good research question because it is broad and general. In the community, the definition
of happiness is already well-known, making it irrelevant and it does not add to any new knowledge.
Also, a less specific topic is addressed in the question.

2. What are the learning difficulties of students in the Philippines?

It is not a good research question because the subject's target demographic is too large. It necessitates
a response from each region of the country, which may be impossible to achieve. It should be specific
in order to be doable and manageable.

3. How many grade 12 graduates has become successful?

It is a good research question since it is highly specific. The target population is mentioned, which is
Grade 12 graduates, and thus it is doable. It also adds new knowledge that will provide insights to the
community.

4. What are the learning styles of students in grade 10?

It is a good research question because the target group has been chosen, making it specific. The question
is designed to be answered by Grade 10 students, so it is doable. Also, it adds new knowledge that
would help parents and teachers enhance students’ learning styles.
