Removing and Installing the inter-axle differential

mechanism
Remove the inter-axle differential mechanism
1. After removing the middle bridge main reducer assembly, remove the bridge box end
cover and remove the inter-shaft differential assembly .
Installing the inter-axle differential mechanism

1. Press and install the bushing into the inner hole of the rear half-shaft gear.

2. Press and install the bearing inner ring onto the rear half-shaft gear.

3. Assemble the rear half-shaft gear assembly (with the bearing inner ring) and the
adjusting washer. Install the universal joint pin and planetary gear into the inter-axle
differential mechanism housing. Press and install the oil collecting cover onto the
differential mechanism housing.

4. Put the cross shaft and planetary gear into the differential housing between shafts.

5. An oil collecting cover is pressed on the differential housing.

6. Install the inter-axle differential mechanism assembly.

7. Press and install the bushing into the inner hole of the driving cylindrical gear.

8. Install the driving cylindrical gear, and install the thrust washer onto the end face of the
cylindrical gear.

9. Install the main shaft, use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance between the main

shaft and the thrust washer, which shall be 0.5 0.8mm.

Attention In case it fails to comply with the specifications, remove the main shaft and
replace the thrust washer with a proper thickness until it complies with the standard.

10. Install the sliding sleeve on the main shaft, and install the shifting fork and return
spring. Set a 2mm washer on the piston rod, penetrate the piston rod to the limit of the
reducer housing. Use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance between the two end faces of
the shifting fork and the end face of the sliding sleeve groove, which shall be around
0.5±0.2mm. Attention: In case it fails to comply with the specifications, re-adjust the
thickness of the washer until it complies with the standard.

11. Remove the piston rod and the pre-selected washer, fix and place them, which shall be
assembled after the tank cover is installed. Install a spring between the reducer housing
and the shifting fork.

12. Install the pin bolt into the reducer housing, apply a layer of sealant onto the fitting
surface of the reducer housing. Requirement: The sealant applied shall be uniform,
continuous and closed.

13. Align the cross-axle case with the holes, and gently lift it into the reducer housing.
Requirement: Apply the thread adhesives onto the bolts and tighten them diagonally with
the torque of 150±15Nm for hexagonal flange bolts with teeth and the torque of 110±15Nm
for inner hexagonal cylindrical head screws.

14. Set and install the washer (pre-selected) on the piston rod (with O-ring), penetrate it into
the tank cover, shifting fork and spring in sequence and install in position. Attention:
During assembly, prevent the washer from dropping into the main reducer, otherwise,
replace relevant parts including the tank cover to remove the washer.

15. Install the air cylinder cover (seal pad), and tighten the bolts.

Requirement Tightening torque of bolts: 25±5Nm.

16. Install the pressure switch (with deal washer).
Requirement : Tightening torque: 35±5Nm.

17. Apply a circle of lubricating oil in the inner hole of the adjusting nut, and press and
install the oil seal in position.

Attention Follow the step when reinstalling the oil seal, which shall be free of scratches
and deformation after installation.

18. Install the bearing outer ring in position.

19. Apply a circle of lithium lubricating grease on the oil seal edge of the adjusting nut, and
apply a circle of thread adhesive on the fitting position of the threads.

20. Install the locking plate, and tighten the bolt.

Requirement Apply the thread adhesives on the bolt, and the tightening torque shall be
45N·m.

21. Install the flange in position, apply one circle of sealant onto the end face of the flange
and the fitting root of the main shaft, then use the tool S65 to tighten the dodecagonal nut.

Requirement Tightening torque: (1050±50) N·m.

22. Use a chisel to lock the dodecagonal nut.
