CHAPTER I: INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of Study

Now days the number of personal vehicles usage is increasing on a large scale. People

prefer personal vehicles than public transportation. It is very difficult and frustrating as well

to find parking space in most metropolitan areas, especially during the rush hours. It is

often costly in almost every major city in the world to find proper and secure parking space.

Due to this there is a need to provide sufficient parking places providing plenty of slots to

help the user park his vehicle safely. (Singh et al. - 2019 .)

The suggest an IOT based solution to the issue using a mobile app, IR sensors, RFID, and

Arduino as key components. With the solution's help, users can easily look for nearby

parking lots alongside real time availability in each parking lot. They can also block the

desired parking slot through the app, followed by reaching the parking lot and

authenticating using an RFID tag. Upon exit, the amount to be paid is determined using the

time the service was used, which is determined using IR sensor data, and payment is

processed using the linked in app wallet. This technology improves the overall efficiency,

reliability, and convenience and reduces the precious resources in searching for parking

spaces and pollution.(Agarwal et al. 2021 )

IoT based cloud integrated smart parking system. The proposed Smart Parking system

consists of an on-site deployment of an IoT module that is used to monitor and signalize the

state of availability of each single parking space. A mobile application is also provided that

allows an end user to check the availability of parking space and book a parking slot

accordingly. (Khanna and Anand 2016)

Parking allocation has become a major problem in modern cities for which numerous smart

parking systems (SPS) have been developed. This paper aims to provide comprehensive
study, comparison and extensive analysis of SPSs in terms of technological approach,

sensors utilized, networking technologies, user interface, (Fahim et al. - 2021)

Current parking systems involve huge manpower for management and requires user to

search for parking space floor by floor. Such conventional systems utilize more power,

along with user’s valuable time. This paper presents a Smart Parking & Energy

Management solution for a structured environment such as a multi-storied office parking

area. The system proposes implementation of state-of-the-art Internet of Things (IoT)

technology to mold with advanced Honeywell sensors and controllers to obtain a systematic

parking system for users. Unoccupied vehicle parking spaces are indicated using lamps and

users are guided to an empty parking space, thus eliminating need for searching for a

parking space.(Ashok et al. - 2020 )

There are a lot of cases of non-disabled drivers regularly using spaces for people with

disability. They often get away with it too unless an authority happens to check while their

vehicle is parked there. This project presents a reserve-based parking system in securing the

parking spaces for the disabled. In this proposed system a special parking area for disabled

will be introduced using current technology such as the internet of things (IoT), and mobile

application as a Smart City concept initiatives. By using the reservation system and alarm

system, violation of disabled parking system can be avoided.(Fikri and Hwang 2019)

a wireless sensor networking smart parking system that can provide information about

parking slots located in the parking area. In this study, to find out the parking slots available

in the parking area, a wireless communication that can be monitored through the monitor

screen is proposed. The monitor serves as a monitoring of the parking slot area to be

displayed, so that visitors know whether the parking slot is still available or even fully

charged. The HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor is installed in each parking slot area, the sensor

will detect the parking slot, which will be filled by the car.(Sahfutri et al., 2018)
Our project is different from other project; we are solving the accidents that can happen to

the driver when he is driving the car, such as when he is parking the car in reverse, when

the windshield of the car is covered with water, and when the sun or light falls on the

driver's eyes. by solving IOT automatically

1.2 Problem Statement

The drivers of our country have problems when parking the car, one of which is that they

have an accident by hitting the object behind them without keeping track of the distance

between the car and the object behind them during parking. While controlling the

wiper, there's problem faced by the drivers. One of them is that when the driver is driving at

a high speed, it rains and the wiper control is busy, thus causing an accident Sunlight,

which can cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle and cause an accident.

Developing a parking system that integrates anti-collision systems, effective rain wiper

control, and effective sun deflection solutions to enhance driver safety during parking,

high-speed driving in rainy conditions, and disruptive exposure to sunlight.

1.3 Research Objectives

1.3.1 General Objectives

The main objectives of this project are to reduce accidents by implementing a car parking

system that integrates parking distance sensors, wiper control, and sun protection systems

using automatic.

1.3.2 Specific Objectives

 To developing a parking assist system that alerts the driver when there's meter

distance between the car and the object behind it.

 to develop an automatic smart wiper control system based on the time of rain
 to make an automatic sun prevention that prevents the driver sun reflection

1.4 Research Questions

 How developing a parking assist system that alerts the driver when there's meter

distance between the car and the object behind it?

 How to develop an automatic smart wiper control system based on the time of rain?

 How to make an automatic sun prevention that prevents the driver sun reflection?

1.5 Motivation of the study

We are encouraged by this project that the number of cars and drivers are increasing in our

country there is a problem and lack of skills during parking and driving in different

weather conditions such as rain and sun that can cause accidents When we perceived all

those problems we decided to solving that issue and design smart parking distance wiper

and sun prevention which solving the problems mentioned above.

1.6 Significance of the Study

This modern parking system is very helpful for drivers to improve their driving skills and,

when parking cars, to feel safe and monitor the distance between the car and the object

behind it. And the car in different weather conditions, such as rain and sun, with automatic

wipers and sun protection.

1.7 Scope & Limitations

Checking and monitoring the parking distance meter is necessary for drivers in our country,

especially in parking areas. So we will create a system that measures the distance between

the vehicle and the object in the geographical location of the Banadir region, especially in
Mogadishu. This project started in September 2023 and will continue until the end of

September 2024.

1.8 Organization of the study

Chapter One: Introduction to study and consists of an introduction, background of the

study, Problem statement, Research objectives, Research question, the significance of the

study, Motivation of the study, and Organization of the study.
