the benefits of sustainable tourism?" or "Which country is famous for its wildlife safaris?"

6. To make it more engaging, you can use multimedia elements like images or short videos as
clues for some questions.

This activity is not only educational but also interactive and fun, making it a great way to
celebrate World Tourism Day while testing students' knowledge about global tourism.
Sanat-
Today, as we gather to celebrate World Tourism Day, we reflect upon the profound impact
that tourism has on our world. World Tourism Day is celebrated annually on September 27th.
It is observed to raise awareness about the importance of tourism and its social, cultural,
political, and economic impact on the world. Tourism is more than just leisure and
exploration; it is a force that transcends borders, cultures, and economies. It brings people
together, fosters understanding, and fuels economic growth. Over the next ten minutes, I want
to take you on a journey through the world of tourism – a journey that explores its
significance, challenges, and the transformative power it holds.

The Significance of Tourism

Tourism is a global economic powerhouse. It generates billions of dollars in revenue,

employs millions of people, and supports countless businesses. Beyond the numbers, tourism
fosters cultural exchange. When we travel to new places, we learn about different customs,
languages, and traditions. It's an opportunity to celebrate our diversity while recognizing our
shared humanity.

The Challenges We Face

However, the path of tourism isn't always smooth. It faces significant challenges, and one of
the most pressing is sustainability. Climate change threatens our planet, and tourism
contributes to it through emissions from transportation and energy use. Over-tourism in
popular destinations strains resources and damages the very attractions that draw visitors.
Preserving the cultural heritage of communities in the face of globalization is another
challenge.

The Importance of Responsible Tourism

As we celebrate tourism today, let us remember that our journeys can leave a lasting impact.
Responsible tourism is not just an option; it's a necessity. We must travel with respect for the
environment, local communities, and cultures. Sustainable tourism practices, such as
reducing our carbon footprint and supporting local businesses, are crucial. It's about ensuring
that the beauty we enjoy today can be appreciated by generations to come.
